I'd forgotten to check up on the TTLG standings, second isn't bad, disappointing to lose my champions status, but this season has been somewhat of a transitional one for me.
Dear God, Cure City are a shambles, at least Sunderland are having a late rally and are only going to break the "lowest-ever-points" record they already hold by a slight margin.
Strontium Dogma won mainly because of the millions pumped in by their Russion billionaire benefactor. And intimidating the refs.
I should probably start posting on TTLG again, it's been a while :erg:

I was 590th out of 810,687 players, which ain't bad at all.
Why did I do so well? Lots of reasons!
1. Fwank Lampard. Especially early in the season when he was scoring for fun and making goals left, right and centre. This guy hardly misses a game so he pretty much guarantees at least 4 points a week as captain. And as he takes free kicks and penalties (of which Chelsea get a suspiciously high quantity) he'll chip in with plenty of goals!
2. Pepe Reina in goal. He had a reputation for keeping zillions of clean sheets in Spain, something that he was always going to repeat behind a rock-solid Liverpool defence. And just for good measure, Carradonna in defence, another guy who'll put in 30+ performances a season! 20 clean sheets in 33 appearances for Pepe this season; expect the same next year as Liverpool romp to the title.
3. Goals galore from midfield! Attacking midfielders are crucial. In today's modern game, teams are relying less and less on goals from their frontmen, which is good news for fantasy football managers. As well as Lampard (16 goals, 10 assists) I had Pedersen from Blackburn (9 goals, 10 assists), Kevin Nolan of Bolton (9 goals, 4 assists) and West Ham's Yossi Benayoun (5 goals, 8 assists). Your midfield is the most important part of your team.
4. Pascal Chimbonda! I spotted this guy in Wigan's first game. Here was a full-back who liked to get forward, anchoring an under-rated defence, and available for chump change. 125 points for the season.
5. Thierry Henry. No, not signing him in the first place, but getting rid of him when he was crocked. It's pointless having so much cash tied up in an injured player, especially when he's out for two months. Do what I did and trade him in for an in-form striker, then buy him back when he's fit again. I don't think he'll be here next season though. Pity, cos he's a goal machine. He was also my captain during Lampard's late season goalscoring slump.
6. Trading Strikers. Don't be afraid to get rid of players who are out of form. This is especially true of strikers, who tend to score in clusters. Over the course of the season my forward line included Vassell, Van Nistelrooy, Lua-Lua, Saha, Henry, Camara and Jason Roberts. It's especially important that you get rid of off-colour strikers, because they cost more money than the other players.
7. Substitutes Everyone resents having to shell out 3m on a player to sit on the bench. But frequently you'll have 1 or 2 players injured/suspended, so it's important that, when called upon, you have guys who are at least getting regular first-team action. All those 1s and 2s add up!
Sooo, take the above on board and maybe next season there'll actually be a title race!

I think the moral victory is mine for not being unbearably smug

Hey, I had to ship this smug in especially from Siberia
Tulsidas used up TTLG's entire allocation for the year already :(

I think I did pretty well considering I picked the team in the first week and didn't touch them since. I think Darren Bent was the key, well pissed off that he didn't make the World Cup squad this summer :(

Ooh, I snuck into 7th. Excitement!
Ok people, please keep your eyes peeled for any (free) World Cup related fantasy footy games which appear over the next few weeks. If enough people are interested we can select the best one and get some TTLG WORLD CUP going on!

I dropped two places on the last day. Paz you bonce :(
Also, Zat Knight is the biggest, most useless waste of defending deoxyribonucleic acid ever.
