What do you prefer? Science fiction or fantasy books ( movies ) ?
As for me, I dislike most of the moderns fantasy books. I tried to like Terry Pratchett. I REALLY tried to like his books, but... no, this style is not for sci-fi fans like me.
I prefer good science fiction books. My favourite writer is John Windham, his book "The Chrysalids" is my top favourite!

I enjoy both Science Fiction and Fantasy.
Currently my favorite Fantasy Author is R.A. Salvatore. He has a knack for outstanding characterization and a uniquely detailed style of writing fight scenes move for move. Not just the general flow of battle.
BG. I highly insist that you read his Drizzt novels, starting with Homeland of course. I've got several of my friends hooked on these and I look forward to the next installment.
As far as Science fiction goes. I really haven't gotten into many of the novels. I've read some of the bigger ones, e.g. Frankenstein, Dune, A Canticle for Leibowitze, Ender's Gameetc.
I really am a big fan of Ray Bradbury. His The Martian Chronicles was simply amazing. he has a very ingenious way of writing. It's really more like poetry (using images to create feelings) but with an obvious storyline to follow. Something Wicked This Way Comes is another great one by him.
A few good Sci-Fi short stories are (I apologize for not remembering authors here);

These are all only a few in a sea of great stories and I sincerely insist that you read them. (If you haven't already)
