A 19" widescreen monitor has a smaller screen area than a 19" normal monitor. That isn't crazy, that is a mathematical fact.

you aren't wrong, but you will have to get used to the world not caring about 4:3 or 5:4 anymore. I personally hate 16:9 - using 16:10 which is ok after a while (also perfect scaling with SS1), and is supported by modern games.

Thank goodness. I actually really like Fallout 4 but the things they are trying to do with it now is just awful.
