Fallout 3 vs. IE 8 - TTLG Forums

It seems installing Internet Explorer 8 on my box (XP x64) breaks Fallout 3 - it crashes the moment the "Please Wait" screen appears. It happens both with and without admin privileges, for both patched (1.4, 1.5) and unpatched game. Reinstalling the game doesn't help. Finally, if I get rid of IE 8 Fallout works like a charm again.

I wonder, has anyone else experienced this?

Edit: I forgot to mention Windows event logs appear to contain something related to this crash, except as usual with these logs they aren't particularly useful. Each time Fallout starts I get a warning from XLive, which seems to be nothing but a "fallout3.exe started me, my version is ..." note, followed by two errors with undefined sources, which Windows cannot decode.

If GfWL is the problem, (http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1086) this may help. Careful with the saves though. It may or may not affect other "Live!" enabled games.
