All around internet land I've been hearing people bitching and whining about how they can't make a cool looking character with Oblivion's facial system. Mostly it's about how it's overly complicated and you can't make a realistic looking person using it and blah blah blah "I'm a big whiny whore". Well I figured I'd go out and prove people wrong by making a neat looking character.
When I first fired up the game I spent about maybe 5 minutes designing my character. This second go-round I spent a little more time with it...and as it turns out it's kind of a game in and of itself. I could easily spend a few hours just goofing around making avatars.
So I figured I'd go ahead and post 2 of the characters I made. And if you feel like doing the same then go for it. You know it'll be neat and awesome as hell, and we'll all get a giggle out of it.
Here goes...

I like clicking on "random" until I get something I kind of like, then adjusting that to make it look better. I've gotten pretty nice faces out of it.

They could have changed the tweak option names with beast races. Khajit don't really have beards. *g*

I used the construction set to make all hairstyles and eyes available to all races. My female Breton looks quite cool in her Argonian jeweled fins and Khajiit eyes.

Well, I'll be damned! She looks similar to Conan's mother from the flick! Good job! :thumb:

I haven't really watched any of the Conan movies, but she does look kinda familiar nonetheless...
I've finally decided on my final character and have actually started playing the game in earnest. I went with a wood elf, and wanted to give him some vague American Indianish features. The end result looks sorta like a cross between Clive Owen, Pete Postlethwaite, and a Cherokee...depending on which angle you look at him.

Hope istra from the elderscrolls forums doesn't mide me posting his link, but this shows how much diversity there is in Oblivion's character making and how if you spend a few more minutes you can make something great...

Particulary like the one that looks like Catherine Zeta Jones! (forth page)
That should stop their whining :)

My first I spent a half hour making it look exactly like myself, then age progressed it to give it a bit more rugged look. Worked out great for me.
Now I'm trying to make a perfect Garret. Was gonna do wood elf, but there's the problem with the ears.
I think its a shame that you can't do full fledged beards, but at least they added a 5 o'clock shadow type of facial hair.
