So, here comes another of my "OMG A FLAW"™ threads, made specifically to annoy Daveh*:
I just noticed, that the images from the internal forum smilies and the ones linked externally are not using the same alignment -
Inline Image:
http://www.student.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/~ivoch/crap/smilies/rolleyes.gif  - this is the same smilie, the first image linked from my homepage, and the second using the rolleyes tag. Is this some fault/feature in VB?
Also, most of the time, the animations aren't playing synchronously, but I assume this is because they aren't loaded at the same time, right?
* - no, really, if this is so, just tell me. :)

Looking at the source on this page, I see
<pre> <img src="http://www.student.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/~ivoch/crap/smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0" alt="" />
<img src="images/smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)" class="inlineimg" /></pre>
for the two smilies. It's the <em>inlineimg</em> class defined in the forum's stylesheet that alters the alignment. If you take the <em>class="inlineimg"</em> and use it a HTML <em><img></em> tag which uses your URL, the alignment will be consistent with the one on the forum.
I'd say the animation isn't synchronised because one loads first, yeah. Looks fine if they're cached.

I see, thanks! :)
Obviously using the inlineimg class for externally linked images (I mean generally) would look awful :eww:, but how about removing this class from the smilies tag? That way all smilies would be aligned at the bottom of the line. Actually, by setting them so, the line where a bigger smilie like  wouldn't be separated from both the above and the underneath lines, but instead only from the above line... Hmm, I have wondered about this in the past - which way would look better?
Blahblah this
is the  normal
setting of the forums...

Hmm, I can't really decide, but maybe the standard setting does look a bit better - the other one makes the text look as if a new paragraph is started...
Well, I guess this has been discussed thoroughly on the VB forums by people, smarter than me, but nitpicking about insignificant stuff IS funny sometimes, and also educational (now I know about the inlineimg class, yay!) :thumb:

Yeah, what is more fun than seamlessly integrating smilies? <img width=9 height=9 src="http://www.ttlg.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif">
