I'm currently using a Samsung SE-506CB external Blu-ray drive for my living-room HTPC. It works pretty well and is relatively quiet. One thing that's quite annoying, though, is the bright blue LED, which is a bit distracting, even if it's at the edge of my field of vision.
Is there any easy (i.e. software) way to deactivate the LED?

I would imagine it's built-in behaviour of the drive's firmware. I'd be inclined to use a bit of tape :)
