Nope, not talking about bombs here, but the band, Explosions In The Sky. Anyone hear of them/listen to them? They're an instrumental band, mostly guitar and drums, no vocals. They're great to chill out to, and if you're a writer or a filmmaker, they make great ambient/background music. If you saw the film, Friday Night Lights, they did the soundtrack for it.:thumb:

I listened to The earth is not a cold dead place a couple of years ago (when it was just out, I think) and enjoyed it a lot.
What's their best record? I'm assuming they've only got like 2 or 3 or something? I might pick up some stuff if I'm in shops later.

The Friday Night Lights soundtrack is brilliant, and they added some strings to one of their best songs, Your Hand In Mine. Did you buy The Earth....? If not, I'd recommend picking that disc up.

Nah, just listened to it at a mate's. The cover is just loads of writing yeah?
Anyway, cheers. I'm on it!

They have a nice melodic thing going, but as an instrumental rock fan, I find them to be a tad generic (I tend to wander towards the more experimental) and somewhat unstructured. I do enjoy a few tracks from their first record.
Anyone been listening to Mr. Beast? shits ace

The Earth Is Not... is a good album, very American. To me it sounds very patriotic and uplifting, but if Explosions stay on that path they'll tire quickly. Reccomended, though. Some beautiful songs, especially "Memorial".

Curiously, I just found out about this band yesterday when I went out to look for more post rock stuff. Haven't actually managed to give them a listen yet though.

Never heard of these guys but their music sounds like my type of music, from what you tell us. :D If anyone's seen the film: Cold Light of Day, about Dennis Andrew Nilson, the ambient music in that, is the type that i love.

The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place is the kind of album that I dont understand how anyone can NOT like. Moms Dads retard brothers. I heard their new EP and didn't enjoy it much, the drummer only knows how to play drum rolls SO EPIC.
