Explain to me how you enjoy... - by Yakoob

Merry Holikwanzamas! I thought it might be a fun thread where we can ask each other how others find parts of games enjoyable that irritate us.
So here's my two questions as I'm playing SOMA, but it's part of all Frictional Games games:
* The sneaky monster sections where you can't kill the foe and can't even look at it. It just drives me insane when I can't even see the monster I'm trying to avoid and the screen goes all glitchy messed up as you get too close. Particularly while trying to explore narrow, confusing layouts and find clues. How do you find that fun?
* Occasional arbitrary puzzles where there just isn't any hints what to do, so you end up running around flipping random switches, or unplugging things from walls, or trying to trigger a script sequence to progress forward. You don't even know what the "forward" even means in this case. Maybe my sense of wander and exploration is dead, but how is it not frustrating?

Adds to the tension I guess. I think there is an option to turn it off though, so you may not be the only person who hates that.

If I'm not having fun with a puzzle, I just look it up. :p

In SOMA the 'can't look at the monster' thing is a little less annoying than in Amnesia. It makes your A/V glitch out but it doesn't alert them to your presence or anything.
As far puzzles go, I don't even remember SOMA really having any. There was one spot where I couldn't figure out where to go, though, IIRC.
