Have any of you much experience when it comes to Remote Desktopping on a tablet? I might be getting myself a HTPC next year, and I'm wondering if RD on an iPad might work as an easy way of controlling it remotely, as the HTPC would have to run various programs (e.g. Media Monkey, DVD/Blu-ray player, VLC, streaming services). Is RD suited to this task? What are the advantages and pitfalls?

For control of applications on a HTPC I've used (
https://www.unifiedremote.com/download) Unified Remote successfully. You need to install their service on the PC but you can then control it from an android phone or tablet (ipad too according to their website but I haven't tried that version). It worked well at controlling the media center applications I had on it at the time.
If you'd rather use remote desktop instead then I've used the tablet (
https://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/mobile.aspx) TeamViewer client. Again, I've only used the android version but it was perfectly suitable for basic control tasks and also useful for controlling the PC from outside the home network.
