Heck, the amount of customisation in this is off the scale. This is possible the most customisable game ever, isn't it?
Not counting text sports sims, I think so. It's not quite Out Of The Park Baseball customizable, though. Although a game with menu options for manually editing hard coded game variables would be beyond awesome.

Err, I am pretty sure thief had most of these meaningful options hidden in the cfg file. They weren't used as the developers trusted their vision and could hit a sweet spot on challenge and enjoyment. In thief 4 these need to be explicit because understandably these days the target audience is so generic (and frankly dumb if you would take the trend from main stream games) god knows what they will enjoy at the end of the day.

What a crock. The devs have just made a bunch of stuff accessible to non-nerd who don't want to mess around in a cfg file and you moan?
What the hell is wrong with you?
Screw them for not being cfg hacking nerds I guess?

I don't mind that the tiny cutscenes exist, just that they don't use letterboxing or some other convention to avoid that weird out-of-body floating effect. It feels like the player has just flown over the rooftops to take a look at something of interest.

I agree. The way how it's done in that particular scene is pretty bad.

We've got plenty amazing customization options yet you guys have problems with it. You're never gonna be happy.
1. I don't like a fact that readables are shown in the inventory screen as plain text. It's a big step back, especially in comparison to TDM where you have parchments reading WITHOUT pausing the game (slight but at the same time big improve over the Thief series). I don't understand this decision since it could be transitioned into new game very easily. Seems like EM just don't put any attention to it.
2. I don't like this modern, flat menu/inventory screen, especially while reading letters is fully transferred there (see above).
3. Short missions is my main concern now (aside with good plot - I don't trust mr. Gallagher very much). I want to play slowly and carefully, enjoyed by pure exploration but it all depends on mission construction. Variety is something good: smaller and more straight-forward missions won't be bad IF there is a majority of big, more open missions, too.

So there are still people who want to moan about Thief 4. That's understandable because there are loads of things in it that large departures from the originals (and even the old school settings seem odd).
But please, if you want to discuss it's shortcomings can you do it here and not detail other threads with discussions or rants.
Err, no.
To be sure, staying on topic is a thing and I'd absolutely be 100% more supportive
if you wanted to suggest folk try to be a bit more mindful of topicyness (though pot/kettle and all that). But if the topic is something I think warrants an on-topic discussion of a perceived shortcoming I'll do it there thanks. And I may even start threads in the future where discussing a specific shortcoming is the topic.
Besides, 1 thread literally isn't big enough. You'd crash MYSQL within a week.

I don't like the change in Garrett's personality. "First I stole to survive, then I survived to steal".
Nor do I like the modern features that help the player too much. It's all very well saying we can turn off focus, alertness icons and other silly things, but since they're on by default, many newcomers to the series will be deprived of the satisfaction of relying on their own skill and development.
