Renz, thank you for posting that. This is fantastic.

I came across some Russians streaming it, this point where Garrett was scaling the side of a whale oil plant refinery from Dishonored came about, and it suddenly got a bit too batman's creed for my taste. I just wanted to share it with you, TTLG.

Heh, that's certainly the ugliest Thief screenshot that I've seen so far! It does look pretty lame indeed. Hopefully the third person view is optional there.

It's the PS3 version, probably 1280x720, compressed, streamed, and saved as a low quality jpg in mspaint. It's gonna look pretty bad (to be fair the game itself doesn't look very appealing any closer to the source). Still, I'm not sure how they would translate this to first person effectively. The angle it took to show off every climbable pipe in the area seemed extensively third person focused. I don't think this will be something you can do in first person. The way climbing is handled is straight out of assassins creed it looks, and that's not something that embraces any perspective except the third person.

Climbing pipes and looking around while doing it worked perfectly fine in Mirror's Edge, something like that in Thief would be awesome.

I also don't like how you can't backtrack within a level once you go past a certain point. I wonder if you'll at least be allowed to replay a level later after you've left it completely. All in all though, the level design looks very straight forward and not very creative. Downright boring even.
They described being able to replay a mission when completing it or anytime you visit the city hub later.

So let me get this straight... this thread is supposed to be some sort of countermeasure shill thing, that is supposed to separate criticism from neutral or positively opinionated discussion so that it can be ignored? Kinda like the "complaints" box with a paper shredder inside it?
How about... no? ...Because that's pretty much North Korea -level of horrible?
Nah, it's still very US a la Free Speech Zones.

In my opinion, triple A gaming is the worst. Devs always account for the lowest common denominator to maximize profits thus gameplay often suffers as a result. Speaking of Dark Souls, I think people confuse it as OMG ITS SO HARD with the reality that it is a game that expects some effort, no more, no less. Games like Dark Souls are a breath of fresh air in a sea of mediocre, narrative driven, games. It is the antithesis of triple A games.
It really does not feel like it belongs in this time period. It's like someone came up with a concept to rip off of Gothic in 2002 and then completely forgot about it until 2009.
