You people obviously dont know much. First he started the whole successful computer gaming industry, then he created mmo
You're the biggest troll I've ever encountered. Well done?

Richard Garriott invented and perpetuated online role play gaming, just like he did a decade and a half prior with successful computer role playing games.
And?

Except he didn't, and he didn't.

Prove it.
Meridian 59. The Realm Online. Nexus. Dozens of D&D based RPGs and Temple of Apshai.
It's not like one day Garriott woke up and granted the world RPGs, nor did he do so for MMOs. Just because he was among the first to create something in the format doesn't mean he invented the damn format.
We would still have RPGs if Garriott had never been born.
PS: TDP isn't an RPG.

And yet, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

The Realm Online, Nexus, AND Meridian 59 are all still online today.
Man, no one played those games, ever.
PS: I subscribed to and played The Realm Online before you ever played Ultima Online. Obviously this means I am the most intelligent and well-informed on all matters pertaining to MMOs. Everything I say is the ultimate truth and cannot be debated, and if someone dares debate it, I will tell them of how I played The Realm Online before they knew what an online RPG was.

Ultima Online was the game that achieved a mass enough appeal to be the first MMORPG, in fact Richard himself coined that term.
