While I understand the fear of the new things and the change of what we're used to, showing hostility to Discord doesn't make such sense.
The Dromed Discord server isn't and will never be a TTLG 2.0 made to replace it nor kill the community. It's just an alternative tool with its own advantages and drawbacks.
If you want a quick answer about something and upload pictures to show your problem or error message, Discord is much better. But if you want a tutorial, of course, TTLG would still be a better place.
Saying "I would never go to Discord because I don't want to kill TTLG" would be the same as saying "I would never take a plane because it would kill the car industries." Anyone knows flying vehicule would not make people stop using the wheel. It goes the same for forums and instant chat.
As long as both are used for their right advantage, it's entirely fine. We don't need a trial. :cheeky:

That's where the Discord Pinned Messages tool comes to use. So if I see something someone's asking was already clarified, a simple link to the answer can be provided, exactly the same we do when someone asks something on the forum which the answer lies somewhere in the archives of the forum.
The only advantage the forum has, and I admit it's a big one, is if the message is not pinned. Since unlike the forum, messages have no titles, if it's not pinned, it can be harder to find the answer by ourselves. But it only confirms my point that forum and Discord server are not in some sort of conflict with one trying to replace the others. The good thing to do is to use the advantages of each.
Discord made for example betatest much easier to prepare and organise. While TTLG has still the monopoly in matter of looking for or publishing the FMs, or simple casual talk.

I think Discord has the thread ability now. You can start a thread and name it and it should be searchable. Still not the same, but it might help organization a bit.

In twenty years the zoomer fucks on Discord are going to be yelling at clouds too, and the stewards of the FM scene then (if it exists at all) will continue in whatever new-fangled format they like best to keep the community alive.

yeah, we as a community are entirely helpless to choose where and how we interact. especially its impossible to think about how our platform works, and who owns it, and what the long term implications of that are. shit just happens yo. give me a fucking break.
