we're not exactly one of those "Yay, you made a thing! High-five!" communities.
Which is why it's utterly amazing to me that anyone ever makes anything cool for this community. Why would anyone make something cool if 95% of people they show it to are going to say "oh god, this is horrible, go away"?
Also, if you actually read the post, you'd know that he based his version of SHODAN on another piece of fan art, not the in-game image. He's doing an interpretation of the original, not a pixel for pixel recreation of it.

I quite like the look of the protocol droid. Not so much a fan of the new Shodan. But 1 out 2 is fine by me.

It might not be 100% faithful to the source material, but there's obviously some serious talent on show there, so I can live with that. Just a shame it's only concept stuff and not an actual remake.

It's been a looooong time since I played SS2, but if I remember correctly, the game begins after the VB has been out of dock for 6 months. That's nowhere near enough time for it to develop a worn down, lived in look.
That floor would look dull and lived in within a day or two of people walking on it. Nothing stays that shiny unless it's being waxed and buffed regularly.

Wow, suddenly I have the huge urge to replay System Shock 2 for the sixth or seventh time, I've lost count. :D

You might want to hold off on that for a little while longer. The new Shock Community Patch (SCP) is getting really, really close to first release.

That Shodan looks awesome. The orange eyes give her appearance more contrast and definition.

Nice.
A reason for all us to give the game a replay :D.

I started my 2nd attempt at finishing the game (just made it to Shodan's reveal on normal, not as far as the first attempt... which was on hard), is this patch going to be graphical or bug fixing only?

mostly bugfixes, but certain parts of certain levels have been overhauled so they will look better, especially if you apply mods like SHTUP and ACC 400. the goal is to provide the player with the smoothest SS2 experience possible - if something doesn't work right, it gets fixed. if something looks bad, it gets a makeover. if something doesn't make sense, some sense is knocked into it. the general rule is, there should be NO sane reason to choose vanilla over SCP once it's out, just like there is no sane reason to run the game under oldDark now that we have NewDark (unless you are doing a school project on dark age of 3D and need to see the game in its original buggy state, or you are one of those "I want my glitches back" persons). to make it short and simple, SCP is the answer to the "what if IG had had enough time to polish their game properly?" question.
