Y'see, not everyone's got a German education, or can cope with the huge helping of WTF that comes with those situations. Thus stupid happens, such as trying to strangle a deer.
I'm aware that regulations might be different elsewhere but I'm pretty sure they are the same in Austria (where the deer was drove down) and sparhawk gives "Germany" as his location, so ...
I also wouldn't have said much about it, if he'd told the story in a "God, we were so stupid, now I know better" kinda way. But again, it's nothing to be proud of when you act like that. I mean "killer instinct"? Please! At least the guy in the original story took on the deer face to face (fictional as it likely is), but what did you do, that's so noteworthy sparhawk? You failed to strangle a helpless, injured animal.

Or not so helpless, as it turned out. :p
But yeah, if you're a level-headed thinker, you'd find means and ways to notify the authorities. Emergency numbers are well known, and if you're having doubts about using them for such a situation, you could try calling the phone directory service or simply someone you know with a phone book. It's not that fucking hard.

You can call the police and they will inform the warden. It's really not hard. In fact it is what everyone in Germany has to learn and gets tested about before he gets his driver's license.
That's all nice in theory, but it's quite different if you are really in such a situation yourself. In theory you also learn that you have to do first aid if you come to a crash site, but look how many people just ignore it.
I know that I had once an accident with a kid. It wasn't even my fault. I was standing at the red light, and when it came green I drove on. On the side was a woman with a kid, and just when I was on her height, the kid got loose and ran into my car. It only hit the side of it, so nothing happened. But I was so shocked at the moment that I didn't even know what to do. Even in this moment I could hear the instructions racing though my mind that I should get out and look for it, but I couldn't move. When I noticed that the mother took her kid back and nothing has happened I drove on, because this was the only thing that I could do at that moment, kind of keeping up an appearence of normality. Only later I still thought about this incident and I knew that I could have gotten in big trouble, because what I SHOULD have done was to at least see what happened there, and I knew it. So don't tell me what you learn in the theory and what you should have done in such cases. I know that germans are all for writing up rules and sticking to it, even to the point of ridiculousness. As long as it's written in some book somehwere, germans feel safe.

You fail repeatedly at using common sense and then you bash the rules that are made for people just like you.

You shouldn't take everything so seriously, but I know. The written word is above everything else for a true german. :)
You think I actually care about your opinion of me? For all I care you can just be a reply bot from TTLG, so whatever you say to make you happy ...

For a second there I thought that said 'rape a deer' and I thought to myself, "Nope, but I could see ProStalker trying something like that".
