No knockouts. No lean. Merged skills/augs.
Well, so much for learning from Invisible War's failure.

It's ok though! They're augs you can upgrade with exp!

Knockouts are in. They even punch a guard unconscious a couple of times in the demo. Lean is hugging a corner in third person. I really don't see how the takedowns are any different than hitting a guy with the prod from behind. Hit button, receive kill.
The game could turn out bad, but all things considered I think it sounds fantastic and I can't wait to play it. Sorry guys, I'm going to turn in my True Fan Badge.

More like your Pattern Recognition Badge. And Educated Guess Sash. And Crafty Pin. And Reason Pin.

So, NOT leaning.

Hit button, receive kill in overlong third-person animation with zero player skill involved.

Ooh, no skill involved? I might actually be able to do it then.

Knockouts were not guaranteed kills with DX. Things could go bad.
Ok. Here's the difference between DX and what HR will most probably be : With DX, hide in shadow from afar for several minutes to learn patrolling route and, if there are several enemy patrolling, wait for the right timing. Then go hide quickly behind a wall and rely on sound to know when to attack. When the sound of the footsteps seem to indicate the enemy has turned around, which is very imprecise, pray a bit, get out of hiding and try to get behind the target fast enough (before the enemy turns around or another one sees you), hoping he won't hear you so your baton is an instant kill (in case you don't remember, if you decide to run, the enemy might hear you before you hit and then your baton won't do much and you will be in deep shit).
Now with HR, just go to a wall, go in 3rd person, look at the target, when you see him turn around, press "A" on your pad for the kill and look at the cool animation.

Just because you didn't lean to peek around corners doesn't mean the rest of us didn't either. Sure, the cover system guarantees you're hidden, it does dumb things down a notch, but it would be pretty hard to to screw up with leaning in DX too, what with the AI being all "uncertain of itself". As for "pray a bit, get out of hiding and try to get behind the target fast enough", hardly. Lean out to verify the target has indeed turned around, and if you had studied the local patrols, you could've often hidden close enough to just walk up to the guy crouched thus avoiding any risk of him hearing you. Not that it makes much of a difference for this argument, I'm guessing running up behind a guard in DXHR will also carry the risk of being heard, plus these new NPCs are also supposed to be able to quickly glance over their shoulder without turning around.
In theory, DXHR's stealth need not play a lot safer than DX's. How well it plays will more likely hinge on their level design. What does suck is all this third person crap they'll be sprinkling over my immersion. And admittedly, I'm disappointed they didn't choose to implement and further develop shadow stealth.

I think you should replay Deus Ex, because leaning in this game doesn't do what you think it does. It certainly doesn't allow you to watch without being seen. Do I really have to post a video of me being seen almost immediately while leaning? As for crouching, it is slow and it means timing becomes more crucial, which means it is not the magic solution you say it is. Seriously, you should replay Deus Ex.
