With 16 of 24 teams in the tournament progressing from the group stage, you would think that even England could manage to get to the second round at least. Nevertheless, as soon as England meet any well organised side, they are destined to tumble out.
Called it.

Belgium look overpriced at 11/1 with the bookies, considering that England are at 9s. Iceland are my dark horses and they can be backed at 150/1 odds.
Both made it to the last eight. Belgium are in to 4/1, Iceland 40/1.
I've laid both bets off so no matter what happens I won't lose a penny :D

Just to give you an idea of how terrible Iceland are, their midfielder Gudmundsson plays in the THIRD tier of English football.
If the Icelanders are so terrible, what does that say about 80-90% of the other teams? While they may not be as technically proficient as some others, their games were among the more enjoyable this tournament and for me their reaching the quarter finals is absolutely deserved. And I'd rather watch their terrible team than the snooze fests of say Portugal, Spain or, well, England.
Now the Switzerland - France game - THAT wasn't a snooze fest. Just gotta remember not to buy any clothes by Puma! :laff:

Now THIS is the kind of Brexit that I love to see! :D What Iceland pulled off last night and throughout this whole tournament has been just amazing. It's kind of heartwarmingly beautiful, and this is what football should be all about.

With that kind of mentality England will never win anything... Besides, who's to say that England are supposed to be any good/not terrible? Iceland are a proper team with very good organisation, excellent work rate, and most of all their players seem to have great pride representing their country. England may have the most (over)paid team in the tournament and a bunch of big "stars" (made up by the English media), and Hodgson may have done a lot of mistakes, but there are
much bigger problems in English football than Roy's team choices. There's no manager in the world who could turn this bunch of players into a world-class team in a snap of the fingers. Some way bigger changes need to be made.

After it was claimed that England fail because their players aren't good enough, I am only pointing out that Iceland's players are demonstrably inferior to England's players, so lack of quality isn't the issue here. Terrible coaching is the issue.
As you point out, Iceland are better organised and are more than the sum of their parts, something England aren't, despite having the highest paid coach in international football. England can't even get the absolute basics right.
You say there's no manager who could turn these players into a world class team, which ignores the fact that most of these players play in world class teams at club level.
A past-it striker in midfield. England's best finisher pushed out onto the wing. The English league's top scorer on the bench. One sole winger in the squad, who has had an abortion of a season yet still gets a start. An unfit midfielder who has played barely two hours of football this season and never should have been on the plane. The list of elementary errors from Hodgson goes on and on.
This is an article from a couple of years ago about Hodgson, and it's still bang on the money.

Well, yes. The weather does appear to be pretty crap compared to last year at this time.
I obviously blame Farage for this.

I'm still here, anyone else? My small bit of Welshness wishes Wales a load of luck.
bassoferrol on 6/7/2016 at 23:15
Welsh done, Wales but Portugal did better.
Sorry.

Sad, but they can certainly hold their heads up proudly after that fantastic run.

I don't care who wins it now, so long as it isn't Portugal.
