Greetings, TTLG,
After sitting on the sidelines for many years, I've decided to make a go of contributing to the FM and modding communities for this game. While I try to figure out Dromed, I've decided to toss out some custom textures in the meantime. While these are primarily meant for fan missions, you are more than welcome to mod them into your base games if you know how. They are primarily meant for Thief 1 and 2 and have been made with those games in mind; comments and critiques are welcomed and appreciated. It's my first time making textures for Thief, so I appreciate any pointing out of things that need fixing.
I don't require any attribution, but if you'd like to drop a note about what you've done with them, I'd love to see your work! My textures are also free to edit and change as you see fit. Add special effects, darken/lighten them, give them a recolour, or do anything else to make them fit your needs.

PAINTING PACK #1A series of paintings - some edited more than others - to decorate walls, manors, museums, and other buildings with. Seven .gif files, each at Dromed-friendly sizes (256x128, 128x256, and 256x256) are included in this pack. It's 303.63 KB total in size, and comes with 11 files. Some of the paintings didn't take too well to the resizing process, while others look much better. I've included even the less-successful attempts just in case you can do something with them still.

PAINTING PACK #2A second series of paintings for your FMs, as well as three new tapestries and three new banners. Sizes are 256x256, 256x128 and 128x256. This pack has a lot of paintings with female subjects in it, so I'll make sure to have more male subjects in the next pack. Thankfully, I think the art turned out
much better this time around with some of the resizing than in the last pack. The archive's 538.48 KB in size and has 15 files.

PAINTING PACK 3 (+ Bonus Dewdrop's Dresses Pack)A third series of paintings for your FMs. It mostly contains paintings edited for colour and contrast, but has three monk portraits edited to look like Hammerites. For missions with exotic fauna or located in places like hunting lodges, paintings of beasts both modern and ancient (mostly ancient) are another feature of this pack. Please note that some of these paintings include animals hunting and eating one another, so if you're sensitive to that kind of content, you may want to take a pass on this one. I can send you non-hunting scenes in another file if you'd still like the pack. Just PM me for details. :)
There's also a little bonus with this pack:
Dewdrop's Dresses. It contains a baker's dozen of dresses for the Dewdrop doll model, and an alternate face with button eyes and a neutral expression. Various recolours of her dried-hay hair have been also been included, simulating other plants that might be dried for decoration. There are also three new heraldry-/family crest-inspired banners for you to use in the main Painting Pack section. This file and the main pack total a whopping 70 files, with a total file size of 4.34 MB. Image sizes include 64x64 and 128x64 for the Dewdrop items, and 256x256, 512x256, and 256x512 for the Painting Pack items.

**NEW: PAINTING PACK 4I'm working on a somewhat larger texture project right now, but I don't want this thread to go inactive. To combat this, I decided to put some more paintings up for people to download until I have this next project done. It has 25 files of either 256x512 or 256x512 pixels, all of which are saved as .GIFs. It's 2.22 MB in size, so not as big as some of the previous files have been. Can't say that'll be the same for this next project I'm working on....

RUINED RELIEF ANCIENT WALL TEXTURE PACK (+ Bonus Portraits)This pack contains 34 files (including those of the bonus paintings) and is a total size of 9.60 MB. The main part of the pack consists of 16 tiling, interchangeable textures that portray three different animal reliefs: sirrush (dragon), auroch (cow), and sheep/goat/unidentifiable livestock animal. (It might even work for a burrick.) 8 are in a cement brown colour, and 8 are a dark blue-gray. A dividing brick texture has been provided for each recolour if you want to put some space between the reliefs. Each texture is 512x512 and is in the .PNG format.
The second part of the pack contains a mix of human portraits and long-width paintings. There are 16 .GIF files in here, but they were misnumbered after I removed some duplicate files, so they list 19-34 instead of 17-32. I may go back and fix this later.

**NEW: ANCIENT RELIEFS TEXTURE PACK #2Here are some more ancient ruin textures for your cities of old and places still inhabited. The aesthetic is Assyrian mixed with Egyptian, so it could fit into Karath-Din or one of its colonies or outer settlements. (The Precursors used hieroglyphs instead of cuneiform, however, so it might work better for an ancient people further out from the city. (Alternatively you could say that cuneiform was the common man's writing, with hieroglyphs saved for important documents, signs, the royalty, tombs.... ) Texture replacements have been named after canon Thief textures that they could slot over, and hopefully that will make moving them into Dromed texture families easier. They include replacements to turn the talismans into cuneiform tablets (or tablets that double as readables); textures to turn the talismans into animal sigils; cuneiform textures to replace the hieroglyph signs in the Lost City, and animal sigils to replace the hieroglyph signs; a plain clay texture to create clay bottles out of wine bottles, but which could also be used for clay vases; various carved clay textures for small, lootable vases, but which also could be used for bottles; a repeating brick texture with various animal motifs (fish, bull, serpent-lion [serpopard], bee/hornet/wasp, and sirrush) in the same recolours as the first pack's, but with flowers at the top except for the bees; a plain brick texture with a floral border; and various replacements for Lost City wall and catacomb decorations, featuring the sigils and clay carvings from the aforementioned textures. There is also a bonus "Xtras" folder with all of the banners I've released thus far (except a couple of tapestry textures I need to hunt down), now with torn versions of them and banner support poles. It also features three new tapestries that also have support poles and torn versions. This means that, if you chop at them in-game and they're an object, you can now have it that the banner is ripped after you use your sword on it.
This pack has a whopping 118 files, and is 19.12 MB in size. Please let me know if there are any tiling or mapping errors - I couldn't check the texture objects in Dromed. I have to figure out where the TFix high-res textures are so I can go in, replace them, and preview objects with my new textures on them.

Image sharing sites are for looking at pictures, not hosting texture map archives. Why don't you use Google Drive instead?

That's a much better idea.
I'm going to convert all these images over to Drive and Photos instead and edit my post. Not sure why I didn't think of that earlier....
Edit: Going to have to find an alternative to Google. GMail asks for phone number conformation when you create an account. I'll try something like Dropbox instead.Edit 2: Found an uploading site to use, and fixed
several problems with the first Painting Pack. I'm working on a second one to go with now, as well as some Pagan-inspired cave art textures for walls.

Edited out unnecessarily-long preview section and replaced it with something simpler. Finished and added Painting Pack #2. (I had a lot of ready-to-go textures in my files, hence the quick update time.) Fixed some links that weren't working. Added a to-do list for future and upcoming projects.

Thanks for the contribution to the community.

These textures have not yet been converted into the Thief Palette with an application such as Bright. I wasn't able to figure out the program, (...)
Don't attempt to do that - New Dark supports 24-bit RGB images by default - .dds, .png, .tga. Palleted images, while still supported by the updated engine, are a thing of the past. Bright can go to museum now.

PinkDot, thank you for the updated info. Most of my work has been done trying to learn what I can from various scattered tutorials across the Internet. To know I don't have to worry about Bright anymore is a great relief. I've wanted to contribute to the community for a while now, but as I'm still figuring out Dromed, I couldn't figure out how until this thread.
BassofErrol, thank you too for your help and showing off one of the portraits in-game. I'm going to try and see if I can wrangle Dromed to behave enough to let me import a custom texture of 512x256 or higher. I will attempt to get some of the hi-res images for Portrait Pack 1 in bigger sizes, though I may be able to only go so large because of Mediafire storage and my own connection speed. Portrait Pack 2 I may have to redo larger images for entirely, as in a particularly braindead moment, I deleted all my regular-sized files of Portrait Pack 2 while making space in my documents. I should've been more careful with checking the Recycling Bin. :tsktsk:

Thank you for the suggestion, R Soul. I will look into that. If nothing else, I can always track down the paintings I used and try to recreate what I made. That might be easier said than done for the tapestries and banners, but at least the painting-paintings will be remade in a better resolution.
