The attention to detail is amazing. They've really pulled out all stops in trying to make it a living, breathing world.

No it is not the exact same footage. The gameplay that was shown was not footage itself the first time, nor this time. It's two different players playing the the same three missions on two different dates captured by different cameras and individuals. The E3 booth footage was one player playing caught on an unauthorized camera, and these authorized PAX 10 vids are the missions played live before an audience by EM's new Community Manager, Kyle Stallock.
negativeliberty's point was that it's the same demo that we've all seen several times in various forms since E3. I'd really like to see the Gamescom demo, because that sounds like it's a much better showcase of the game sticking to DX's roots.

Maybe. It's too easy to take the post literally, with that much effort put into it, regardless of the tone that comes through.

Only if you're being deliberately obtuse.

That was my point, thanks (should've said demo not footage). It even says "E3 Demo pre-alpha" down at the bottom. Same here, although I'm not holding out much hope.

:weird:
What effort? I watched the vids and just wanted to comment there was nothing new (that I could see). Actually for a different playthrough it's pretty similar, sorry for not being able to tell the difference, looks like the same sequence of actions to me, as far as I can tell, from the crates-takedown bit down to things like the "augmentation glint", passing underneath the tanked trailer while invisible, shooting someone in the face, going up the ladder and dropping down with the claymore aug and the bossfight. Wait.. on third thought I think it *is* the same.
As for my 'tone', I simply think at this point it looks like little more than an awkward amalgamation of various bits borrowed from Splinter Cell to Assasin's Creed amongst others (as well as GitS and Blade Runner for backdrop). I can enjoy most of those immensely on their own (except AC), but I honestly couldn't readily distinguish this E3 demo from, for example, footage of the upcoming Crysis sequel. So calling it derivative, based on what we know and what we've seen and heard so far, is in my view putting it delicately, yes. I didn't even get a little DX tingle during the Hive club-segment.
Of course this is all "pre alpha" stuff (also vaguely alarming 5 months away from release) but I'm not sure what we're seeing could even come close to a real DX game. I'm just not seeing it, your view may differ.
Btw, I just noticed, why did they opt for a "concussion effect" when Adam punches someone? Or does he punch people at the speed that nitroglycerin explodes?
