Enormous SS2 Problem - by Mr. LOL

While playing System Shock 2 today, I happened to get killed before I had activated the resurrection chamber. I entered the menu to load my previous save, when I realized that I had accidentally saved over my last game instead of loading it! Now my save is stuck with my character dying, and the game returning to the main menu!
Is there anything I can do to salvage my progress so far? I really don't want to play though everything again.

1) Welcome to the forum
2) Sorry, but ROFL
3) I don't have SS2 installed at the moment. But I'm pretty sure you'll get a savegame from someone here. You'll have to describe where you died, of course.

Ouch. This is why I keep two save games at any given time, plus one from back a ways in case I screw up in-game.
There's little you can do. How far did you get?

Your autosave should be from the last bulkhead/elevator transition, those generally aren't too far from where you probably are currently

I was at the Ops deck. Would it be possible to somehow edit my savegame to make me start back at the beginning of the section? My autosave is also gone.

Unfortunately the auto/quick saves use the same slot in SS2, a major oversight on behalf of the devs. Isn't there some mod or hack you can use to get different slots for them though? Not much use to you now I suppose.
Is loading the game up with godmode on out of the question if you have 0 health in the save?

Yeah, I tried that. No luck.

Level Selector?

Level Selector?
What level selector? Will it somehow reset my health?
Also, this happens to be my first playthrough of SS2, I only got a little far in last time but stopped due to the game running badly and crashing.
On my new PC however, it happens to work extremely well and I've got all the high-resolution texture and model mods installed, but no gameplay-changing mods. SS2 is excellent, and I'd take it over Bioshock any day.
