My ending augmentations:
Spy Drone Tech 3
I find Spy Drone more useful than Agressive Defense System. Not because of the spying aspect, but because of the EMP attack. At tech 3, the drone moves rather quickly. EMP grenades are virtually useless since the drone is much more accurate.
Targeting Tech 4
I've found that I don't really like Targeting... For you people that use it, what do you like about it? I like Vision Enhancement better, although, Vision Enhancement is only useful at higher tech levels.
Microfibral Muscle Tech 1
There's not much use for Microfibral Muscle, but the way I play, I would rarely use the alternative. Tech 1 Microfibral Muscle is enough for me, I use it simply for convenience when I don't have patience to push something too far.
Cloak Tech 3
I would find cloak useful, but every time I play, I've found I have an overabundance of Thermoptic Camo, which is better anyway.
Ballistic Protection Tech 3
Useful when I find myself in combat situations I don't intend.
Environmental Resistance Tech 2
I only really use Environmental Resistance toward the end of the game where many rooms are toxic. Tech 2 is enough when combined with Regeneration.
Regeneration Tech 2
Great augmentation, makes medbots relatively unneccessary if there's a repair bot around. This is also great use if you're swimming (drowning) or wading through toxic.
Power Recirculator Tech 4
I haven't used Synthetic Heart much, but with the augmentation upgrades you get, you don't need the extra tech level that Synthetic Heart provides. Power Recirculator is good when using many augmentations together. I also use it with my Spy Drone. Not sure if it makes a difference. Can anyone let me know?
Speed Enhancement Tech 4
One of the must fun augmentations when upgraded to tech 4. Sometimes it even allows you to get to places you're not supposed to be.
My ending skills (1813 skill points left over, enough to train any untrained):
Weapons: Heavy untrained
Weapons: Pistol trained
I think it's a bug that whatever you do with the skill levels when creating a character, it reverts to "trained" when you start.
Weapons: Rifle master
Master rifle is great for sniping and getting rid of pesky cameras when you don't have time or if you're too lazy to find security consoles.
Weapons: Low-Tech untrained
I rarely use low-tech weapons, so I find this useless. The only low-tech weapons I use are the riot prod (where you have to be right up to your target anyway) and the Dragon's Tooth.
Weapons: Demolition untrained
Environmental Training trained
Trained skill level is enough. Maybe this is why I have too many Thermoptic Camos toward the end. ;)
Lockpicking advanced
Electronics master
I think lockpicking and electronics really depends on the player. I find too many lockpicks and multitools that advanced level should be enough for both.
Medicine untrained
With all the ways to heal and all the food lying around the world, medicine is of much less use to me. I play the stealthy way anyway. Regeneration also makes this of much less use.
Computer advanced
Advanced should be enough. Trained might be enough. Of course, if you really want to read those e-mails, master is convenient.
Swimming trained
All the swimming involved in the game, trained is enough since you swim much faster and lung capacity is increased. Alternatively, you could use Aqualung and forget swimming training, but then you'd lose out on an augmentation slot.
People are welcome to post their own thoughts of course. I'd like to see what skills and augs other people end up with.

Well, I don't recall what I had at the end, but I can tell you what I prioritize:
Skills:
1) Master Rifles - rifles are the best, excellent overall mix for any opponent, half of them can be silenced, too.
2) Trained Computer, Lockpicking and Electronics - that's all I need. Have too many lockpicks and tech tools anyway, and hacking only gets faster. There's codes around for most obstacles and doors are rarely indestructible.
3) Advanced Pistols if I can be bothered. Just as backup, I usually mod the heck out of my mini-crossbow, anyway, so it's excellent even when untrained. Rarely use pistols.
Augs:
1) Level 4 Regeneration - it makes half of the other augs useless. :p
2) Level 3+ Speed Enhancement or Silent Running - too little difference otherwise, and each is useful depending on your playing style.
2) Rest distributed between Cloak, Ballistic Protection and Power Recirculator - although I rarely even use biocells.

Aggressive Defence System Tech 3
I've loved this aug ever since Walton Simons blew himself up in front of me with a LAM. Nowadays I rarely use either aug in this slot.
Targeting Tech 2
Useful enough like this. I take Vision Enhancement only when I choose synthetic heart instead of power recirculator.
Microfibral Muscle Tech 2
Nice to have around when you want to move those explosive/poison gas barrels in a better position. :ebil:
Radar transparency Tech 3
I'm too lazy to watch out for all those cameras and bots.
Ballistic Protection Tech 4
Never loses its usefulness.
Environmental Resistance Tech 2
Throw a gas grenade in the room, switch on this aug and prod/shoot away! Also handy in radiation chambers.
Regeneration Tech 2
We don't want to get healed too fast, now do we? ;)
Power Recirculator Tech 4
Assures that bio-energy lasts long enough. Now that I'm a *cough* veteran, I've started to use the synthetic heart as well, it's more... appropriate. :erg:
Speed Enhancement Tech 3
Useful in several different situations.
Skills go somewhat like this:
Weapons: Pistol advanced
Weapons: Rifle advanced
- enough since I usually have the Targeting aug.
Weapons: Heavy trained
Weapons: Low-Tech trained
Weapons: Demolition trained
Environmental Training trained
Lockpicking trained
Electronics trained
Medicine trained
Computer advanced
- because of the turret hacking ability
Swimming trained

Ballistic protection to full. Upgrades spent evenly on Regen/Vision/Speed.
I like pistols the most so I get to Master in them ASAP usually.

Whoa, juveli, looks like your skills are pretty balanced out. I just tend to focus on things and forget the things I never use. And ADS affects LAM's? I'm pretty sure in MP they're not affected, don't know about SP. Not a lot of enemies use LAM's.
Microfibral Muscle Tech 1 is enough to move those hazard barrels. I love that part in Area 51.
Bob Page sends up the man who killed your parents in the elevator. I just place a few barrels in front of the exit and they can't get off the elevator. Then they try to shoot at me and the barrels explode. :cheeky:
And Amorpheus, you're right about the doors and stuff. I realize now that's why I have too many lockpicks and multitools at the end. It's 'cause I know where to find all the codes and keys etc.

And then there are the MJ12 Commandos with their rockets... :laff:

And yes, it's a bit useless to upgrade MM to tech 2, but I'm still doing it. :)

Lol, I can imagine what fun it would be... wading through blood and meat chunks. I always find that a bit wasteful, since you can't loot the bodies anymore. (Even though I don't need their items...)
And MJ12 commando rockets... I've noticed that they have no effect on doors... You can blast open doors with LAM's or GEP rockets, but MJ12 commando rockets seem to do nothing. They can break windows though.
As to Microfibral Muscle... Fine.

Agh! Consider this a thread resurrection if you want, but I've been playing Deus Ex again after a long pause and I must point out yet another thing about Aggressive Defence System: It works also against flamethrower and plasma gun! I remembered this when I got in that cathedral in Paris and had a meeting with Gunther. Poor fellow tried to barbecue me, I just put ADS on and mocked him for good! :laff:
PowerCrazy on 4/7/2002 at 05:04
I ALWAYS master Rifles. And Targeting. Targeting is great because with targeting the GEP gun locks on INSTANTLY. And it ups the damage of teh sniper rifle/assault rifle so you can effectively kill the BIG karkanians...
Pistols, I usually get advanced, Sometimes master just for fun.
Melee, advanced. At the beginning the riot baton is great for the one hit takedown if you have this upgraded once. I can do that at the beginning of the game.
Medicine Trained. The first level Doubles the effect of medkits (from 30 to 60 pts healed)
Enviromental Trained. Allows me to take two tranq darts with out "Dying" Also lets me run into the gas grenades with out dying. Increases their usability a LOT.
Swimmin' MASTER! No reason really but usually when i get to the bunker in Paris and theres that LONG underwater path you can take, i have enough skills to master it. it costs not that much AT ALL so why not.
Trained computers. does what i need. Open doors, turn off cameras.
Lockpick/electronics. Trained. I have SO MANY OF THEM anyway.
I think thats it, for skills. I may be missing one or two.
Augs.
Targetting lvl4
Regen. lvl 4
cloak lvl 4?
ballistic prot lvl 4?
Power Recirculater lvl 4
run silent or speed (just depends on my mood) Both are GREAT lvl 4
Aggresive Defense lvl 4?
Microfiberal muscle lvl 1
enviromental prot lvl 1
Flashlight lvl 1 :cheeky:
Ok I think thats right... I might have too many mods but I guarentee that targetting is lvl 4 and power circ is lvl 4. the rest are as high as possible.
Targeting is just fun. Especially the Zoom in on them. Its great to snip someone in the head and see the percentage go down -300%+ HAHAHAHAH. Man thats great. That ENSURES that they are dead.
Oh yeah I ALSO knocked Walton Simons unconsious using the Sniper Rifle, Cloaking, Aggressive Defense and FINALLY trang darts... But i couldn't even get his Plasma Rifle, SOO I GEP his body.... :cheeky: :thumb:
My Wife Has Big Hooters on 24/7/2002 at 04:43
Just wondering: what's the advantage of environmental resistance? I use aqualung, and it seems to help. By Paris, I had regeneration and the repair bot was near to recharge any bioenergy used to fix the ole lungs. Does it help with that errant gas grenade that explodes at your feet?
