I finished as a level 9 fighter/mage buffed to strenth 19 - Int 15 - Dex 14 and CO 9. I had a CC of 78 and Casting of 84 w/lockpicking coming in around 72. I think I picked or opened all the chests. I found that I used fireball about 80% of the time when I needed magic in combat, it was just so useful. Toward the end I cast speed and invisiblity a few times when there was multiple Ylsides. Incinerate was a cool spell, but I found fireball (once your level is high enough) was more effective and cost less mana. I never tried lightning or paralyze, did anybody else? When I play again, I'll try different things.
For the endgame, I just cast speed, played wack a mole with my meteor sabre and kept using health potions. Any better methods out there? or is it too soon to share?
Very good game. I wish it was longer. For some reason the queen's ghost didn't appear in this game, but did in my earlier character's game.
Now what am I going to do. I really like this kind of game. Underworld 1 & 2 were my favorites until System Shock came out (my No. 1 of all time). I tried Morrowind, but couldn't stand the clunky movement and totally boring conversation trees. Any other good RPG's out there?

Movis Communicatum...the attack of great irony.
Why does Akbaa keep summoning demons if I'm just gonna turn 'em on him anyways?
Pfft. Moron.

I died twice then womped him. In one of the attempts, he summoned a demon which created problems cuz I never have been able to draw the runes under pressure. I loaded up ready for the next attempt, but he never got one off. I just kept pressing him away from the circle (I don't know if this made anydifference at all).
Does negate magic or mana drain work on him?

Negate magic did not seem to affect him in any way. I don't know about mana drain.

easy akbaa fight:
when you go in theres a ramp/pillar next to the priest, hop on that and watch him do nothing. only mages can use this strategy. even with a weak mage, cast fireball and use manna potions.
There doesn't seem to be much new out there at the moment, but I found Tribunal to be much better than Morrowind. However, the AI (and movement ;) ) still stucks, but as the world is much smaller, they have put more effort into the characters. Unfortunately though, theres still no escaping those awful generic conversation trees.
Have you played Deus Ex, Oldtimer?

What I'm really excited about is:
(

S.T.A.L.K.E.R: oblivion lostWhich seems to be some sort of
System Shock on earth. The story is in the sshock tradition of "something went really-really wrong, what happened?". And it's set in the
"Chernobyl zone in 2006, just after the second explosion in the area." The trailer oozes, I mean
OOZES atmosphere, just look at the skies, the ruined structures, the lighting...
some engine specs:- Levels combining closed spaces as well as enormous open areas
- One demand loading makes it possible to create single huge level

Yeah, S.T.A.L.K.E.R does look pretty sweet. There's another RPG coming out that's set in South America that looks very interesting called Xenus.

Yes Twisty, I went through Deus Ex a half dozen time over the last couple of years. Great game, but has little replay value for me anymore. Just started Thief 2 again the other day. While I enjoyed it (not as much as Thief), I am finding it a bit dated now. I will have to check out S.T.A.L.K.E.R., sounds good. If someone could capture the flavor of the original System Shock, I would be in heaven. Liked SS2, but loved SS1.:ebil:
