I'm in the final room but I can't get the guys attention! I've tried talking to him, hitting him, and magic but he just ignores me and keeps ranting away in a half transfmogrified state. I keep getting told to try something different but I'm out of ideas. What am I supposed to do to grab this guy's attention (or is this a bug)?
I've looked through the walkthrus for this but there is no mention of this problem.
For a bit of background I could not get the fifth Akbaa meteor (the one carried by the priest at the entrance because there wasn't a priest at the entrance to kill when I entered - just two guys met by a couple of fireballs each). So, bored, I went on a killing spree and killed everything - king, daughter, sisters, pigs, chickens, rats, carlos, gary, blah-de-blah; everyone and everything that walked, crawled, shuffled, oozed, crept, and slithered. When I went back hey presto the guy was now there so I dispatched him forthwith, grabbed the meteor, opened the door, and got ignored. According to the walkthru I was supposed to be met by the sisters, ghost, king and daughter at the entrance but this never happended (obviously I tried this before they were all mercilessly put to the sword) - and it ain't going to happen now!
Please someone, anyone, let me kill this last thing and find the same peace I gave to all the characters in this fair yarn.

Well, I don't know anyway to fix your mass murdering of every main character in the game, but I do know what you need to do.
You need to make the Ultimate Weapon. You can get a guide for this in the snake women's library. Using this weapon, you can take out the boss.

I have the ultimate weapon (double handed sword made from Kolt powder and two chunks of mithril). He still ignores me.
I have completed every quest except the treasure hunt; I only have the priest/akabaa character to kill. And the only way I could get the fifth priest to appear (he was supposed to be there all along but was not) was to butcher everybody else - this act seemed to trigger his appearance. I tried entering the final part of the dungeon from every direction but the priest would not appear until I'd topped everybody else.
However ... I enchanted the weapon myself as when I got the priest to do it they slithered off and killed the rebels (reloaded from a saved game prior to this event and enchanted it on the altar myself). BUT - I note that when the snake priest enchanted the sword it went from +30 damage to +40 damage and this upgrade did not take place when I enchanted it myself. Also it glows yellow for me after enchantment but blue after the priest enchanted it; you think this might be the problem?
To enchant it I made the double handed sword from two chunks of mithril and the Kolt powder, placed it on the snakes altar with a dragon's egg, cast enchant weapon, clicked the egg, then clicked the sword. Was this the wrong way to do this?

This is how I remember doing it. After making the meteor sword, take it to the altar, use the dragon egg on it, it will turn yellow, enchant the weapon, if it is successful you will get a "cha-ching" tone and the sword will turn blue. You should also see the damage bonus.

Thanks for that - problem solved!
Ultimate weapon spoiler below:
I cast enchant object then clicked on the egg then the sword - this enchanted the egg (waste of time) then applied the egg to the sword (glows yellow). What I needed to do was click on the egg then the sword (glows yellow) then cast enchant object (glows blue) - so all I needed to do was recast enchant object! Get the dunce cap out and sit me in a corner ...
Final battle spolier below:
Ironically I ended up taking the guy out with fireballs but I needed to first hit him with the sword; so mage characters, don't despair about having to slay with a sword. Actually my character was a 'fighter' not a 'mage', but if you stand on the pillar next to the altar you can throw firballs at him without retaliation (about 12 does it from this distance). Alas, not much of a 'battle to end all battles' and I ended up saving all those health potions for nothing but at least I used up about eight mana potions.
One small spoiler - before you take the main character out you can safely slaughter every living thing in the realm. Serves 'em right for not being a whole lotta help and putting their own petty self-interests first.
Still, on the whole a very worthy game so lets hold out for a sequel. Any rumours on this anybody?
