Can anyone out there help out a level 26 battlemage who's having enchantment issues? Here's the thing - it seems like every enchanter I visit (I've been to every one in every major city) offers the same enchantments. That's fine, but the problem is that there seem to be a lot of useful things missing from the list of enchantments they all offer. For example, the only bound effect any of them offer is bound dagger. What if I want bound longsword or bound cuirass? Drain attribute is offered; however, fortify attribute is nowhere to be found. A friend of mine that plays told me he had several items enchanted with fortify attribute at Wolverine Hall in Sadrith Mora, but when I checked, the enchanter at the mage's guild there had the same options everyone else seems to have. It's really irritating me, because all of the enchantments these NPCs will do for me are practically useless.
Does anyone know what's going on with that? Why would the enchantment lists be so different from one saved game to another?
Is it my character? Level 26 redguard battlemage.
Is it my factions? Hlaalu, Blades, Mage's Guild, Fighter's Guild.
Is it just a morrowind glitch? I'm running Bethesda's latest non-Tribunal patch.
Am I really expected to go through the entire game without being able to have any items enchanted with fortify attribute? That's pretty weak.
Thanks in advance, everyone.

The solution is very simple. When you enchant items, (or use the spellmaking function- same rule here), it is up to you to know the spell effect you want to use. Thus you must buy spells with the desired spell effect before you can apply it to an item.
There are two people in Balmora Mages' Guild who sell bound armour/weapon spells. Get the spell you need, then try enchanting your item.
Also, should you need a fortify skill spell (wonderful for constant effect enchantments), someone in the temple in Mournhold (Tribunal) sells these- she is, IIRC, in the infirmary.
Have a search through this forum with keyword enchant* or soul gem, and you should find more detailed stuff on the subject.

Thanks Ania, I really appreciate the info. I didn't know it hinged on me already knowing the spell I want to use. I'm going to take care of that tonight. :)
Perhaps this is a little off-topic, but has anyone tried enchanting an item using Vivec's soul in Azura's star? Does his soul allow you to do any out-of-the-ordinary enchantments?

no, they just give you more charge. Therefore it's better to use them as offensive enchantments.

I think they fixed that Vivecs soul thing in a patch... or my soul trap spell ran out. Or I didn't have Azura's star.
I'm gonna use the console to bring up Almalexia and fight her (and try and take her soul). I wasn't satisfied with our first battle because I was too low level and used too many potions. Of course having two Hopefires and Barilzar's Rings might be a probably... I'll just go really far out to see and toss 'em into the bottom of the ocean.

Vivec has 1000 charge, Almalexia has 1500. Golden saints and Ascended Sleepers have 800, and Ash Vampires have 750, IIRC. If you're going to use a Vivec or Almalexia enchantment, it would be best to have one of those enchantments that you can usually only use once or twice (Summon Golden Saint) or those that take a moderate charge out of the item, but you use very often (Baleful Suffering). Using either of them just to make a CE enchantment would just be a complete waste.

:o That's cheating! lol
I'm only allowing myself to bring Almalexia back because I could have done better the first time. And I'm not taking her items or anything. Anyway, it's more fun to fight her.

No not her items, only her soul ;)

No, I'm almost certain that they have 800. And why do you call them "Golden Girls?" Have you ever looked one of those things in the face? It looks like an engineer from TF. Talk about falling out of the ugly tree.
