I've recently been trying to enchant some Extravagant Pants with the recall spell however I have failed miserably many times. If I try to do the same thing at the mages guild in Balmora it will cost me 26k which seems rather steep.
As I'm not playing as a mage my willpower and mysticism are both very low and my chance of actually casting recall as a spell is 2% is this why I can't enchant it or is recall simply a difficult/expensive effect to enchant?
While I'm here I might as well ask - is it possible to get a complete set of bound armour? So far I have boots, gloves and a helmet. I'd really like to enchant something with a complete set of armour so that I don't have to worry about weight. (Playing a thief type character means I want to be able carry loads of stuff, plus wearing noisy bulky armour doesn't seem to fit with the character) BTW my intelligence and conjuration skills are both pretty high and I have enchanting as a major skill at around 40.

As far as I am aware the chance you have of casting a spell does effect how easy it is to enchant said spell... although I may be wrong. And seeming as you are a theif I doubt your enchant skill or intelligence are probably high enough, enchanting is pretty difficult!
I believe you can find mark & recall amulets around (don't know exactly where though, sorry), so I wouldn't waste the cash.
You can't get a full set of bound armour either I'm afraid. You can get most weapons, cuirass, gloves, helmet, shield, boots, and I think that's you lot... try the mage guilds for the various bound spells...
Hope this helps :D

Thanks, my intelligence is around 60-70 (as I said I do have enchant and alchemy as major skills) but I still fail when I bump it to well over 100 with potions. You're probably right about my enchant skill though it's not fantastically high (I think less than 50). (My character as a whole is only level 11). I have already managed a couple of enchantments though, I have a tower shield which I enchanted with almsivi intervention which is very handy, perhaps I just got lucky :)
About the armour, I'd be happy with what you said, all that's missing are pauldrons and greaves which I can probably live without. That still means I need to find the cuirass and shield spells though, at least I know they exist now.
As a price comparison, I think bound gloves, boots and helmet for 59 seconds cost around 12k so perhaps recall is just a difficult thing to enchant.

Yeah, enchanting isn't the easiest skill to master, and I needed to raise it close to 200 using a bucket-load of custom spells and potions in order to really appreciate its effects (or create anything which rivals the game's pre-made enchantments). It wasn't the easiest task, either.... I suggest you explore some of the bandit caves to the north, since I recall seeing a recall (har-har) amulet somewhere around there.
Mark and Recall aren't the toughest skills to master, and with an Intelligence of that magnitude, you should certainly consider raising your Mysticism and Illusion skills up a bit. A lot of good spells (telekineses, teleportation, and a lot of "control AI" and invisibility) come from these schools and they should be really useful for a thief character.
As for the bound armour, yes, it's a really good investment if you can find the pieces you're looking for. Good luck! :)

If you are playing on the pc version and arn't morally adverse to cheating, you can enchant almost anything by using consol cheats to boost your stats. This is not for everyone, but the option does exist if you really want a certain item.
Be sure to keep a record of what your skills were before you changed them, though. If you want to return them to normal, you will need the original number to set it back. I don't enchant things very often, but I do find it very useful to set speed and acrobatics very high so that walking around is less of a chore.
Have a good day!:thumb:

Unfortunately I think it's willpower that governs mysticism (currently 30) and personality that governs Illusion (currently 40). I spent a long time deliberating about what skills to have and in the end I decided that enchant would be the best as I could then enchant any effect from any school of magic and intelligence helps with security (good for a thief) and alchemy (I just enjoy the alchemy part of the game)
BTW what do the control spells do? I have a control humanoid scroll and was wondering if I could use it to either force a fight or get someone to give me an item (deliberately vague to avoid spoilers)

Bound Greaves and Paludrons neither exists as spell nor spell effect.
Willpower governs Mysticism which is where the teleportation type spells lie. Maybe you should have a quicklook at the (
http://morrowind.ttlg.com/spoiler/faq/index.shtml) Local FAQ which includes spellcasting chance, it doesn't however show any excact formula for enchanting.
The Command spells simply make the target follow and fight together with you. To make someone attack you use a Frenzy (most likely Humanoid) spell instead. To make them give you an item use multiple Charm (low magnitude & low duration) spells to get them to 100 disposition, if they won't give you the item you want at that point then they won't give it to you without either you doing a quest or killing.

Thanks, looks like I need a frenzy scroll then :)
Anyway I'm off to find the bound shield and cuirass spells :sly:

Hurrah :)
In case anyone's interested it's much easier to enchant stuff with stupidly high intelligence (around 130000). Which is surprisingly easy to do with alchemy as a major skill :cheeky: Anyway I now have my enchanted pants, armour ring and chameleon ring so I'm off to steal more stuff than I can carry.
