Surely this has been asked before... But probably on the official forums, which are apparently hosted in some other arm of the Milky Way.
So how do you make enchanted arrows and bolts?
I've found plenty of enchanted arrows and one solitary enchanted bolt. But my ordinary arrows and bolts don't show up in the list of items for enchantement.
You can enchant a bow or crossbow to 'on strike', which makes it look cool, but doesn't actually do anything else.
So if you can't enchant your own does anyone know who sells them?
There's a trader in Ghostgate who sells magic arrows. Thats the only one I've found.

Hey. I've tried enchanting arrows and bolts too. It doesn't work. Though for enchanting bows and stuff, i enchanted my crossbow to do frost damage. Nothing happened except for the shininess, then i realized i could kill ghosts n stuff that were previously not affected. Now my crossbow can kill that kind of stuff. Though I don't think there is really any frost damage. I posted it as a question today "enchanting ranged weapons" so maybe by tomorrow i'll have an answer.

I registered on these forums for precisely this reason. I've been saving up over the last week or so to be able to afford a seriously good bow. I wanted to fill all 40 enchantment points, so with my pretty green character I went around doing some serious thieving in vivec and belmora until I managed to scrape together 30,000 gold. I then went to the enchanter, saved the game in case I got something wrong, and started trying various enchantments with my gold.
I quickly realised that bows just seem to do nothing when they're enchanted with 'on strike'. Since 'on use' is no fun at all for your special bow, it seems all this saving, and days of playing, have just been to get a bow looking pretty.
Is there any kind of plan to change this in an upcoming patch, or does anyone know of any ways of getting bow enchantment to work?
I'll confess, this issue has really, really pissed me off :)

I don't know about enchanting items your self - as I never went down that path - but it seems to me that the obvious thing to enchant would be the actual arrows as these do the striking.
I've yet to see a bow for sale thats enchanted but there are plenty of v. powerful enchanted arrows - with the official plug in for area effects arrows I was able to take out a room of three vampires with about four arrows and a standard steel long bow.
Enchanted arrows can be bought at Vivec foriegn quarter without the plug in, but not area effect ones. Also I've found that skeleton archers use enchanted arrows.
Incidently darkfox for the sort of money you are talking about there is a very good none enchanted bow you can buy at Vivec foriegn quarter (1-50 base damage) couple it with some enchanted arrows and you'll be laughing.
