I know, but I though it was agreed that it was the animation which was wrong, not the description. Didn't we have this debate a few years ago?
Animation wrong, description wrong lol.. dont take it so close to heart its just fiction, man. I am not aware of previous holywars here.
Also guys please exuse me for triggering this shitstorm about a blade, I really didnt mean it... %) the topic was mods right?

also. I am not comparing DX and Jedi Knight. i just give example of small but powerfull weapon in another game which does not screw game balance...
(do I really need to explain that lol?)
Given that the entire
focus of the Jedi Knight games, arguably, is on lightsaber combat, it's just an astoundingly poor example to choose. The entire design process of those games concentrates around making that "small but powerful weapon" not totally screw game balance...and it still fails. The lightsaber
is better than all other items. Once you have a lightsaber in any of those games, enemies WITHOUT lightsabers are essentially just 'hilarity fodder'. They usually end up piling in silly numbers of 'dark jedi' or whatever toward the endgame just so it still presents some sort of challenge.
So applying the same argument to a minor plot item in a completely different game with a completely different backstory...is..well, dumb.

Holy war? Maybe... but not really about Deus Ex' Dragon Tooth.
One thing I dislike about modern games is they have become so easy they are better defined as pastimes or light entertainment than games. One reason is obviously that the industry is trying to market their products to a group of people who never really played video games before, but I wonder if another reason is not that even "hardcore" gamers, despite all their "pride" about pretending to be some kind of "elite", still try to make their time playing games as easy as possible.
It's not the first time the idea that the Dragon Tooth should be turned off in the inventory (generally meaning taking only one slot) is brought up. Let's be honest, this is, most of the time, another attempt to remove some of the constraints about the inventory and to make the game less "annoying" by avoiding some of the tough choices. The player is lightly frustrated by not having enough inventory space and, maybe unconsciously, tries to find ways or excuses to get more. You may say this is not the case for you, and that may be true, but even then the bad consequence on the gameplay (i.e. making the game easier) is not worth the aesthetic change.
My real objection is simple : I don't want games to be easier and less "frustrating". I loved Deus Ex because it was somewhat intellectually challenging, because I couldn't do whatever I wanted, and I want more games like that. I guess this is my holy war.
A bit more on the aesthetic. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the team working on Deus Ex wanted a "light saber", while the other wanted something more appropriate to the context of the game. Maybe that's the reason for the inconsistency. Personally, considering the context of the game, I find the idea of nano-robots constantly whetting a blade to be much better from an aesthetic point of view. Basically, I view it as a win-win situation over the light saber idea.
(I admit this explanation is more of an excuse than anything else, but hey! Why not?)

but was not the original intention of creators of DX to give player maximum freedom? at least whit means contemporary to its release
It is intellectually challenging I agree, I discovered and explored alot of great things from it. like "Last and First Men" by Olaf Stapledon - one of my favorite books.. also Trilateral Commission - I read all of their reports (1973-2008) and it was very educating.

I think you are confusing with Oblivion here. Deus Ex was obviously designed as a game, not as a toy. If they really wanted the player to be able to do whatever he felt like, they would have used an infinite inventory and removed a lot of other limitations. With Deus Ex, freedom meant being able to choose between A or B, but not really both at the same time. So to answer your question, no it was not the original intention, at least not the way you interpret "freedom".
Having said that, I will agree Invisible War was more into the "do whatever, whenever" realm, but we all know how great that turned out to be.

So basically we can assume that that's reverse psychology and we must, as a community, spam him with requests for a final Deus Ex release until he finally restarts it or kills himself.

I see the persistence of the community died out long ago... I was just wondering if it's possible to tweak this patch to run faster. It seems to run fine, but at the cost of key commands and the mouse moving slower. I've got all the latest drivers for (finally) my ATX 4200 HD chip.
