Correct. However, nothing's stopping the Modders from asking why the content fans aren't upgrading to less outdated graphics, etc.

ahah yea that is true to some extent)
I think DX has something to be fixed apart from graphics - for instance Dragon Tooth sword should be turned OFF in the inventory ... imagine hiding a turn on light saber under your coat))
(maybe ther is a such mod/fix - I dont know)

The Dragon Tooth is not a "light saber".

I know.

Then why did you suggest the idea to "turn it off" if you know this makes no sense?
Jason Moyer on 20/4/2009 at 03:08
"The true weapon of a modern warrior, the Dragon's Tooth is not a sword in the traditional sense, but a nanotechnologically, constructed blade that is dynamically 'forged' on command into a non-eutactic solid."
Doesn't "dynamically 'forged' on command" imply that you can turn it on and off?
Matthew on 20/4/2009 at 10:46
I was under the impression that the blade is reconstructed each time you equip it, and is seen being formed from the solid hilt of the weapon as its 'readying' animation. In that sense, it is 'turned off' each time you store it away, no?

But then it would only take up one inventory slot which would rape balancing, which presumably was the only reason for it to be 'on' in the inventory in the first place.

Plus it'd presumably be harder for novice DX players (which we all were once) to identify 'small, oddly shaped hilt-thing' in the inventory, rather than 'large glowing sword-shaped thing'. Which may have been a fairly prominent concern back when DX was new, especially since it's a quest item (even though you don't actually need to pick it up).
Also yes, raping game balance (though the DTS does that anyway).
Also, ffs: the entire dx inventory system is just silly. 10 grenades take up the same space as 1 grenade, also, YOU CAN ONLY CARRY 10 OF ONE KIND. Also, a plasma rifle, a gepgun and a flamethrower will all fit into one trenchcoat without in anyway being obvious.
Just love it for what it is. :p

Indeed, I presumed that that was the reason behind the decision, though from a fluff standpoint it irked me a little.
