Well I saw The Mars Volta last night in Sydney, and apart from blowing my mind it also made me realise that this is a seriously fucking nerdy band, so there.
Plus, Nine Inch Nails.

So I'm listening to Auf der Maur by, err, Melissa Auf der Maur and dagnamit I like it! So there!
Other things on my iPod that I hear people poo pooing but which I think are solid - don't laugh now - Best of Billy Idol (yes, you heard me right), Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name" Bond track, Cradle of Filths "Nymphetamine Fix", Bryan Adams - Best of, a couple of Coal Chamber tracks, mofoing Wumpscut and of course The Ozric Tentacles.
Now I know that people have different tastes but I find people who like, say indie, then disliking obviously quality indie tracks. "Getaway" by The Music for example (stupidest name for a band ever if you want to be found on the internets).
So I don't get it when seemingly kindred music likers dislike the above stuff. You?
Also by the way, Chris Cornell's solo stuff is pretty great. I've not gotten his most recent one (which I think was going to have "You know my name on it") but
euphoria morning is pretty freaking sweet. It felt a lot like the more quite soundgarden songs but still very different somehow.

Belinda Carlisle. And not because of any miscalculated estimates of hotness or anything, I actually appreciate her songs.
BTW why is Auf der Maur embarrassing? far as I can see she's fairly credible. Unless, wait, was she in Zwan? Chris Cornell is just Lenny Kravitz trying to be butch, far as I can make out.
PS anyone got the new Matmos album? Opinions? I love it.

Wish I could participate in this thread, but I don't listen to any embarassing music at all. :erg:
Currently listening to: Insane Clown Posse - "Down with the Clown"

The fact that when I was at high school the Beatles were perhaps the most embarassing thing to admit to like does kind of reveal what a lot of peer group nonsense music discussion is.
