So I'm listening to Auf der Maur by, err, Melissa Auf der Maur and dagnamit I like it! So there!
Other things on my iPod that I hear people poo pooing but which I think are solid - don't laugh now - Best of Billy Idol (yes, you heard me right), Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name" Bond track, Cradle of Filths "Nymphetamine Fix", Bryan Adams - Best of, a couple of Coal Chamber tracks, mofoing Wumpscut and of course The Ozric Tentacles.
Now I know that people have different tastes but I find people who like, say indie, then disliking obviously quality indie tracks. "Getaway" by The Music for example (stupidest name for a band ever if you want to be found on the internets).
So I don't get it when seemingly kindred music likers dislike the above stuff. You?

I outgrew "my band is better than your band" coolness duels many years ago.I just listen to whatever I like now, from a wide variety of musical styles. It's much, much better that way. Yes that does forgo a certain social bonding from all that extremely interesting "Whoa, that sucks!" talk...but what the hell.:cheeky:
*edit* BTW "You Know My Name" is one of the best Bond songs ever, excepting maybe the classic 60s ones.

I have the odd bits of OMD, ABC, Bronski Beat, General Public and Fine Young Cannibals in my Jukebox, along with a lot of other 80's stuff.
Nothing better than hearing an hour or so of the hardcore, alt-rock and rockabilly that make up most of my collection only to gay it up to the max for a song or three.

I've got Sara Bareilles on my iPod, people made fun of me, but I don't care. Bottle It Up is a sweet track. :)

I'm slightly embarrassed about some of the anime OST soundtrack stuff I have. Some of it is pretty faggy (though I don't necessarily like it all). My mom loves the stuff the few times I've given her a taste of it, some of my friends would laugh at me.
On the opposite end, my friends like Pantera as well, but I'm pretty sure that my mom would think I'd gone insane if she turned my car on while the wrong song was playing (wrong being many of them). I sometimes get the feeling that something must be wrong with me to like it.
I guess its all about who it is. My brother is the only person I share pretty much my entire collection with, from Beatles and led zeppelin to as heavy metal as I can find to faggy Japanese anime music.

That's not evidence of questionable taste. It's not like You're sitting around listening to the soundtrack from 'Commamd & Conquer' or something ....
Oh wait ... That's was ME ! AW CRAP !

Ditto. I want to have sex with her voice (have you heard 'Vegas' yet? holyshit)
This list is not what I listen to *mostly* but it's sure to make the rest of you feel not so bad:
Pantera (as mentioned)
Van Halen (even the Sammy stuff shutup)
Rush (anything)
Dream Theater (anything)
Kip Winger's latest world music solo thing (Peter Gabriel's a pussy) (also I should win the thread for this one)
Sting's 10 Summoner's Tales
U2's Pop
The Essential Prince
Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation
Days of the New III
Stevie Wonder (anything)
No One Lives Forever bonus music disc (why god, WHY?)
Gavin DeGraw (He's in love with a GIRL, even though he sounds faggy)
Maroon 5 (possibly Gavin DeGraw in disguise?)
Shaw/Blade's Influences (yeah THOSE guys from Night Ranger and Styx)
The Cure bootlegs of such terrible quality that you must drink heavily while listening to get anything from them
On a related note, my wife insists on driving separately these days.

Well, I've always known I'm musically inept, so I just go along liking whatever I wish. I even like: that song about sinking the Bismark, 16 Tons, Grandma's Feather Bed, Cracklin' Rose, Luck Be A Lady, Only the Good Die Young, and many others.
