Thief 4 is built more on what TDS changed than what LGS did. Heck, I bet you'll find TDS is enhanced by the presence of T4, and you'll go back and play it with renewed vision.

I could really go for a plumsie, right now, if I can't get my apple. (And no, dummies, an apple core isn't the same as an apple, and yeah, I'll complain about the bruises and worms and broken skin)
I find it suspicious that EM is flaunting their exclusionary new DX title, and posting about it a lot more, and barely mentioning Thief. Look! It's the Goodyear Blimp!

There's a lack of things for fans to get excited about. To everyone else who is hopeful, cool, I hope its a good game for you. I regret I cannot share in the excitement. The Thief series should live on as the established leader in stealth immersion. As a fan, it is disconcerting to see my favorite series taking a design approach beholden to maximum profit with minimum risk in. Add to the fact that expressing our dislike, we are met with scorn. How dare we have such passion for our game! Oh well.

I'm a fan of Thief.
I just don't freak out like you guys.
There are tons of things I don't like in this gameplay video, but I'm open minded and I'll nitpick where it's needed. Moaning about the game over screen is just pathetic.
I don't like the third person stuff, I don't like the tags over the guards, I don't like the pickpocket timer, I don't like the bow reticle. The guards seemed very poor at fighting and there wasn't any real stealth in this. And if Focus is necessary I'll be pretty pissed off.
But I'm not crying into my tea because I'm not a knee jerk reactionary freakout.

They will get the game they deserve and be so happy, even as they continue to make obvious excuses and justifications for the money and time spent playing it.

The irony is that we are passionate because we care about something unique and wonderful, and wish to see it become part of the future of gaming...as it should be...

Then we are in agreement on at least this! These are my biggest complaints. I'm trying to watch the video and imagine it without all the HUD clutter and it was a stretch to get into it because Stephen Russell's charm is nowhere to be found. I'd honestly be more forgiving of the changes if Russell was brought back. As it stands, there's an interesting game that has the title Thief yet it is anything but.
