Fire the Marketing Department. Every one of them making decisions about how to present Thief and EM to the public needs to go.

Any loyal French-speaking taffers willing to transcribe this?
Francophile that I am, I think I understand the general ideas being communicated, but my French isn't quite up to snuff. They do appear to be addressing the comparisons between the original games and Thief 4.

I'm disappointed to see that "Cart Ride Theme" was composed by Sam Keenan, but I'm glad that Elfman/Batman rip-off wasn't composed by Paul Weir.

Yeah, I'm getting rather tired of EM's special brand of 'logic'. Wondering why they don't just say, 'We think it's cool and gimmicky and trendy so we're doing it this way. This is what
WE want to do.'
Because that's
your invention about what
they think, not their actual reasoning? How can they admit that? You don't like the gameplay idea hence it
must due to some horrible reasoning that's far easier to criticise as a straw argument than cogent gameplay reasons, the developer's solution to which you just happen to disagree with. The third-person perspective in
Human Revolution wasn't some capricious decision, it was an integral part to combat and stealth and it worked very well in my judgement and was ultimately one of the most immersive and compelling games I've played since the original.
It's fine to think it's a bad decision but to rest that on some fictitious developer reasoning, imbued with a desperate attempt to ascribe malice and then to actually get frustrated people don't vindicate your plainly risible preconception about them? That's Glenn Beck levels of theory.
I mean, leaving aside the core offence to actual reason, how for one, how is this element even 'trendy'? I struggle to think of more than 4 games over seven years which have such an element and one of which (
Skyrim) barely features it at all outside of the dedicated third-person view (menial tasks and some optional kill-cams), the necessity to create a third-person model and animations alone makes it a financially unappealing option for first-person titles and it's
far more common to see third-person games using first-person elements. Even for shoe-horned, invented reasoning it could
at least make internal sense.

First of all, NOT my idea or my 'invention, pretty much a fact if you've been keeping up with the latest - as well as all the 'information' we received from EM over the past several years ever since they announced they'd be making another Thief game. But wait, you're new here so unless you've gone back and read all the threads here regarding T4 - any communication (or eventually lack thereof) that's passed between the Thief forums and EM - then you really don't have a clue and end up sounding like you just lost your way from the EM forums and ended up here by mistake. (That's a civil way of saying that you just come across as an EM suck-up, dear.)
Secondly, I have no idea what the gameplay is going to actually be like - neither does anyone else here. I happened to love HR, but am not a fan of automatic switching between 1st and 3rd person perspective - in any game. Each to their own. Ascribing intent to my posts is ludicrous, considering that you don't know me. You sound as though you're trying to pick an argument or just plain trolling; over what? The fact that I don't happen to care for 3rd person perspective, but that it doesn't bother you? Bully for you. Oh wait: that's right, you claimed that I rested
'that on some fictitious developer reasoning, imbued with a desperate attempt to ascribe malice and then to actually get frustrated people don't vindicate your plainly risible preconception about them?' Wow. You sure got a lot out of one small half-facetious post. So then I'll just take your post as trolling and dismiss you as being someone I really don't care to know.
Considering the fact that I don't know you from Adam and in no way insulted you or directed my post towards you, then you definitely need to take a step back and clear your head. It's
really bad form to go on the attack, especially when you're a new member in a forum, don't know the person you're attacking and have no idea whether their post was serious, all in fun, or half of both.
Do yourself a favor.
Lurk more.

New video (in french): (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-Z3RNuqji4)
little english speaking at 2min15 sec
no new information. I just like the end of the video were stephane said that it's all about immersion and that they are close to what the fanbase want.
english version will probably popup later.
They don't seem to know what made Thief immersive to me in the least. They can't judge that
for us.
