I'd need to bold half of the points if were to bold worrying stuff. I bolded that part because of the suggestion that we can make a difference.

I... actually really like the idea of Thief 4 taking place during the Unwritten Times. It's pretty clever, but then again the Unwritten Times begin where Thief DS ends, right? (haven't played TDS in a while).

This is very worrying indeed...and yes, we can make a difference, if we are unified in our opposition to such a misguided interpretation of a THIEF game...
...Oh EM, why must you continue to task us with your insults?...:nono:

Heh, well some things sound good, some sound godawful.
About Stephen Russel though. First of all, they imply that it is him being a "middle aged man" which is the main issue, because they combine motion capture and voice over work and that if we make enough noise he can be "convinced to make the effort". Did they ask him? Did he then refuse because of his "middle age"? Anyway, judging by the staff actions in the official forums and indeed elsewhere on the web, I'd say that talks with SR have already been initiated. We just might get him back for this one guys. But what about the sequels? At which point will the devs deem him unfit to do voiceover? Will he perhaps be asked to perform cartwheels in NuThief 2?
"Instantly" robbing a person of their jewels sounds a lot different and worse than using focus to perform the occasional super-difficult lift.
No Eric Brosius ambiance and no taffer really has me sad and I hope they remedy this.
I'm not overly afraid of the city being mostly static now - they will add more stuff until they ship and probably add a lot more rob-able houses and manors with DLCs, which won't be an issue if the game is good.

"- the blackjack is the main melee weapon"
Melee weapon? A blackjack? Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a melee involve several people fighting hand-to-hand? And they give Garrett a blackjack against ..... what? NPCs using swords or daggers or will it be a blackjack-only melee? For some odd reason I find it disturbing to visualize Garrett laying about him with a blackjack while some NPCs are trying to slash him with swords or stab him with daggers.
@Myth: EM said they actually had SR in their studios at one point but decided to go with someone else to voice Garrett. No one knows at this time whether it was a mutual agreement between SR & EM.

Melee weapon?
In this context, it means a weapon for close-range combat, in contrast to the bow.

It sounds as if they've turned the blackjack into an all-purpose "super club"...This way, we can watch NuGarrett beat the shit out of everyone in super slo-mo 3p.

- a swoop ability for swiftly moving between shadows for more dynamic gameplay
- flashy third person cam for stealth & environmental takedowns
- the City looks great, it's a pseudo-victorian fantasy world on the brink of an industrial revolution
Am I the only one finding some serious trouble with these?
Shadow-warping, third person takedown cam... Don't even want to discuss this bullshit.
Also when was the original Thief anything close to a Victorian world? I guess calling the new setting Victorian would make some sense of the out-of-place looks of the brothel in screenshots. Last I checked Thief 1/2 were medieval setting, with machinery that should not exist, which is exactly why it looked cool. Some of the Thief 2 interiors with their more intricate woodwork and glasswork elements could be Victorian, I suppose but Jesus... I don't want to play another Dishonored.

It's just that we're all stunned, right now...and are reluctant to painfully go through the list.
