EM Teaser & Site Updates - Official Trailer Up & Latest PREVIEWS & Blog Fan Kit - by thiefessa

A couple of questions:
1. What is this sizzle reel you all keep talking about?
2. Was there a trailer before all this? The only thing I remember is that screen showing a guy with a hoodie on a modern street...and that was on a monitor in another room behind someone. Also, this was back a few years. Then there was that awful article in some magazine...black page with glyphs all around, and the hoodie again.
As to Stephen Russell, if he didn't want to do Garrett again, why did he do 3 versions of him in Skyrim? One of them being the lockpicking expert. I sincerely doubt he wouldn't do it again, he's got to know what kind of fan base that voice has...if he doesn't, please someone tell him.

1. Here is the Thief 4
portion of Eric Wong's reel. He put together a bunch of samples of his work into a video, like a résumé:

2. It was included within Eric Wong's reel, basically
leaked online, posted on his website, discovered by a taffer, and after it was shared with the world, Eric reposted his reel without the Thief 4 footage, and the YouTube uploads were taken down over copyright issues. Before that, though, we saw the storyboards that Marlon Deane leaked on his blog, discovered and posted here by a longtime taffer, slipknot, and again, when it went around the world, the blog was shut down. The storyboards were drawn up in 2010, and posted on the blog in March 2011, and slipknot found them months later in October.

3. Emil Pagliarulo is a fan of Thief going all the way back before TDP came out, and he had written an (

article for Adrenaline Vault online about it in 1998. A couple of years later, he was hired by Looking Glass Studios, and he added Little Big World to The Sword for Thief Gold, and voiced one of the Opera singers in Song of the Caverns, and then he went on to make Unwelcome Guest/Life of the Party and Precious Cargo, as well as helped out on the other maps, like Eavesdropping. He later was brought in as a guest designer for TDS, and he created the Kurshok and Sunken Citadel. In every big game he's worked on since, he's put a lot of Garrett and Thief stuff into his games, like Fallout 3 and Skyrim, where Stephen did lots of voices, and there are nods to Garrett himself and the Mechanists, among other things.

Thanks jtr7, that helps :)
I had not seen those storyboards or videos but I did know Emil worked at LGS. I never read his article (honestly never heard of Adrenaline Vault till now). Way back when, I didn't know to search for these things. I found this forum and stayed here, downloading fm after fm. Since the news broke in 2009? with all that hoodie business, then there was nothing, I really haven't been back to the forums till this latest (dec or jan?) news hit. I missed a whole lot in between. I was pretty much resigned to Eidos not making the 4th game since they talked about Tombraider and (something else, can't remember what).
I picked up my life (what fit in my suitcases) and moved 3000 miles back in 2007, and lost a lot of my old websites. It's taken me quite a while to get back into some of the things I used to be interested in. So, forgive my ignorance on these past things, I'm getting there. :)

No worries!
I'm just glad you asked and that I could help you out. Welcome back.

I Saw the trailer...
Pretty.......
.........Horrible...
OK seriously.. there are few things that i liked from this trailer and half of these are half of what i expected from a thief game.
The worst thing i noticed in this video is the suggestion about a boss guard fight.
I DON'T WANT AN END LEVEL BOSS FIGHT AT ALL.
The most stupich thing they could do is to reduce the gameplay into a mario bros game style.
BUT .... considering the fact that is only a trailer and since i am human, the hope still alive.

There is no (in figures: 0) suggestion of a boss guard fight. There is one scene that shows how Garrett evades a guard by means of physical dexterity and a Steampunk gadget. :)

I think he means the armoured dude. Which is probably the new version of ye olde unblackjackable guard.
jtr7 on 2/4/2013 at 09:18
No blackjacking that guy, I'd bet. If he's even in the game. This wasn't made in-engine, so I don't expect to see much of it in the game itself. I'm pretty certain a character like that won't be any more than one of many AIs to avoid or take down more aggressively, when there isn't a knockout gas.
