Imagine if LGS took the same approach that EM is taking. None of us would probably be here at TTLG talking about this. No, you can't remake an original. But if you are going to make something with the same name as the original, you should at least get the original's fundamentals right. Otherwise call it something else.

I agree; a lot of us have been saying this from the first, TMC. Guess they're covering their collective behinds by calling it a 'reboot'. Seems as though they're totally missing the point.

Reboot backwards is toober. Tubers and spuds. Devo.
You can't stop the signal!

LGS could have stopped in their tracks and said "woa, wait, what are we thinking??? Today's gamers will never go for this crap. They are not patient enough. They want the action packed immediate gratification like they get from Doom and Quake. We need to make Thief more mainstream."
Thank goodness they didn't.

And we love 'em for it! And they hung out with us and didn't keep deep dark secrets.

"Today's gamers"... "mainstream"... you only forgot to mention "dumbing down" and "the masses".
Aren't we all "today's gamers" here? Or haven't you guys played any other games since TDP/TMA/TDS?

That's an excellent point, TMC...LGS did not conform to the trends of the time, that is why THIEF is so unique, and as an idea, timeless...This is contrary to EM succumbing to the current trends of today, which can only produce a largely derivative work.
