Haven't done any of those. Did a surface salvage mission last night tho. First I had to find the planet the ship had crashed on, then fly low over the surface to track the exact location, then land and basically use my SRV as a forklift truck to load all the cargo onto my ship, then deliver it back to the station. Loved it. :)

I did a couple, but discovered I could make more cash doing my own thing, and it's less hassle as well. CGs are usually quite far from where I base myself, and they mainly exist to create PVP tension. So if you're not doing them in Open, you're not getting the full "benefit", and if you don't like being ganked by overpowered wings of top-end ships, they're really not for you.
That's one of the key problems with the PvP in Open. While people will go on about fair encounters and all that, the majority of PvP is going to be unwilling on behalf of the victim and generally weighted heavily in favour of the attackers.

Malf, have you done any planetary coop? I like the idea of zooming around in my Cobra, giving (or pretending to give) Close Air Support while henke's pootling around down on the planet.
Not sure I'll manage to get to Founder's World before next Sunday (if you're again up for some Elite coop), as we've got friends over from the UK, so I probably can't just vanish into VR for two hours. If I can, I'll head there, though. You're based around Founder's World, right? And henke, you weren't one of the Kickstarter supporters, were you? We'd have to find a place nearby to meet up with you, as that system seems to require either a pass that was given to supporters or pilots that are at Elite level at least in one of the categories, if I understand correctly.

I've been thinking about basing myself there. I've been based at Arexe for quite some time now, making the trip to (
http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Shinrarta_Dezhra) Shinrarta Dezhra whenever I needed new stuff. So I may as well base myself there full time now. It's got RES, moons to land on and the occasional conflict zone as well as the best outfitting in the game.
Downside is that because it's independent (governing faction is the Pilot's Federation), any missions you get generally end up getting you a bounty.
Edit: and no, not done any planetary co-op yet, although I love the idea of setting a waypoint and then racing to it :D

What I laughingly refer to as my current plan is to head there and do some missions and bounty hunting around the system until I've upgraded my ship components so that the relevant ones are all either at C or even A. Afterwards, who knows? I'm kinda intrigued by the notion of heading towards the more central parts of the galaxy - not necessarily the very centre itself, somewhere around there. That's still weeks or even months away, though.

No, I wasn't a KS backer, which I guess means I don't get to enter the Cool Guys System. :(

Oh, you will eventually. You just need to git gud. :cheeky: (Since you missed the chance to get there by bribery, which is what I did.)

Quick question to the pros: any good way to get nickel that doesn't require me to become a miner? This Tod (sic) guy wants it for some reason.

Get in yer SRV and destroy some outcroppings :)

Yay! This'll be my first SRV experience.
I have to say, I like how the Engineers experience begins. Perhaps it's also been improved since it first came out, but I like how the game gives you enough guidance so you can formulate your own goals. It could do so more when you're just starting - I think a bunch of relatively pre-defined starter missions and a bit less randomness in the missions generated for you would do wonders - but now that I'm not lost and confused 99% of the time, I'm really enjoying this one.
