Now that I've got my Oculus Rift, I want to get into Elite Dangerous. Henke, are you still playing it? Any beginners tips? Also, has anyone here used Voice Attack? It sounds like a good complement to a HOTAS, especially if you're playing in VR.

I've had ED for ages and failed to get into it. Even bought a HOTAS for it. It does appear to have a relatively steep learning curve mind you, so it probably just needs more time than I can give it. Trading takes time to work out, your start ship is useless if attacked and you have to run away etc. It's not a criticism of the game, but it's hard to dip into and get very far.

Thirith, if you want someone to show you the ropes, I'll gladly play alongside you. I think this could very well be another good addition to the TTLG co-op gaming playlist.
I'm getting a new computer desk delivered this weekend that's more conducive to a HOTAS set-up, and am planning to dive back in to ED.

That doesn't sound too bad, Malf! At the moment I'm only playing in VR an hour here and there, so it'd probably be a few weeks or even months before I'm ready for ED, but it'd definitely be fun to spend some quality coop time in space.

To be honest, I find the game's best played in shorter sessions anyway, as it starts getting repetitive after a couple of hours. I haven't played since they released The Engineers update mind you, so there might be more interesting and focussed stuff to do now.
I reckon a TTLG group with the in-game radio comms could be really cool :)

IIRC I just did the in-game tutorials. I love that there's all that depth with regards to trade routes and stuff, but I've mostly just been sticking with taking simple delivery jobs here and there, staying out of combat and more complex trading. It won't make me rich, but I'm content just being a working joe space trucker. :cool:
