The imaginary sense of entitlement that people have when it comes to the pricing of the Horizons "expansion" is ridiculous. It's actually a season pass for a full year's worth of content updates, not just planetary landings. The game is like it or not an MMO so it has a "game as a service" business model and since they're not asking for a subscription fee how else should they ask for people to pay for said content?

Some have even gone so far as to imagine that Frontier promised the expansion to backers for free.

Imagined indeed. Anyone can go have a look at the original Kickstarter pitch and see that major feature additions like planetary landings was planned for major premium expansions. Unlike the 180 turn on the offline SP Kickstarter promise, this time the critics are wrong.

Yep. Plus the game provides a fantastic single player experience for those who want to play in Solo.

Here's a new video showing off ground vehicles.

10:30 - in-game footage starts
13:50 - ship departs!
21:30 - roadtrip begins!
58:00 - in-game sound at full volume.
1:04:30 - ship returns!
Looks like the physics model of the vehicles is quite well made, and the interior/interface is just as pleasant as in the ships. Very nice stuff. Looking forward to trucking around in this bad boy! :)

Yeah, that seems pretty awesome (and completely unexpected, for someone who hasn't been following developments). Thanks for pointing out the moments of particular interest.
It made me think of Battlezone :)

I wonder how the buggy controls with a HOTAS set-up?
Keen to find out!
Buggy racing on barren rocks with the TTLG Cru sounds like it could be fun :)

It's probably better that they haven't yet planned any Extravehicular Activity; otherwise you know what would happen: we'd get out of the buggy and promptly get squashed by another buggy racing past.

WTF. So much for making the game deeper instead of broader.

They promised planetary landing and exploration. I can't see any generic promise to make the game deeper. Plus, it's entirely possible that depth improvements will be part of the Horizons expansion.
This is a demo of the buggy - why expect specifics on depth? Or do you mean that the inclusion of planetary landing somehow precludes additional depth?
