ELEX, the latest game from Gothic developer Piranha Bytes, was just released.
It appears to be a strange mix of sci-fi and fantasy, and judging by the trailers it looks a bit like a mix between Gothic, Fallout 4, and a "lost" human world from Warhammer 40K before the Imperium took over.

In Gothic style, you get to pick between three factions with different outlooks, though in this case they range between technology and magic.
I don't really know much more about it. I was just about aware that it was in development, and didn't realise it was close to completion yet.
I'd be interested in trying it out, but I'm currently too backlogged with other large RPGs - so much so that I still haven't played their last two Risen games.
Anyone else tried this yet?

Have Piranha Bytes finally released a polished game that can compete with CDPRs and BioWares of the world or it just more low budget jank?

I expect it to be a Piranha Bytes game, which means it'll do what PB has always done well (world building), but suck where PB has always sucked (combat).

[..] and excel where PB has always excelled at (combat).
Fixed it for you.
Anyway, that's pretty ungothic-like music. Risen 2 was very nice in just about every way except engine optimization.
This one doesn't look too interesting though, but who knows, could be nice.

That ain't fixed at all! The combat in the Gothics and Risens isn't exactly terrible, but I wouldn't call it top of the line awesome, either. It's just there.
The real fun in PB games comes from exploring their well crafted worlds, and interacting with the NPCs.
