My boss who is diehard republican voiced the same fear and then said dear God don't let it be somebody from Mississippi. My state went the way I figured but if that were to happen the whole state might as well change it's name and move to the moon.
Hope though. Hope won. It won over fear and loathing and dirty political slander. Socialism charges after we bailed out the fatcats? After we paid 200 million to clean up Exxons mess in Alaska? Please. Obama can take any tax savings I might get and apply it to the deficit. I believe in my country once again. The job ahead is tough but I believe we can do it now. I hope again.

McCains concession speech was among his best if not his best. Some of those during the campaign and the outcome of the election might have been different.
Anyway. good luck to Obama/Biden. Hopefully this will mean a long period of peace and prosperity.

Congrats to our first truly postmodern president.
I can't think of a better way to bury the past and send the right message for the next political century. This is how the new millennium should have started.
Now all we have to do is figure out who the actual person is we just elected. A good comment I heard was that he's like a political Rorschach test; everybody sees what they want to, whatever their hopes are for. It paid off for him in a big way. But I think I'll feel better about things when all the hallucinogens clear the air and people start looking at him critically, like you're supposed to with politicians.
But no doubt I think the good guys won this one.
