:D
I remember an episode of Cheers from a few years ago, in the days when Presidents were expected to have Northern European names.
Cliff using complicated numerology predicts the next president of the US will be named: Yelnick Magwawa.
I'm sure if he'd said Barack Obama it would have got the same laugh.
How far we've come

All in all, we have to wait and see what REALLY happens now. We've been in the shitter for so long now. See it, then I'll believe it. Its the outcome of his actions in the future that we can *hopefully* get excited about.

He may use the Force though. Would it be considered cheating?

I've never even been in California and that's got me down.
Also Bachmann. Fuck Bachmann. Past two elections she's been a dark cloud over big wins.

Wow, I remember that episode of Cheers. Makes Cliff seem all the more like the quirky mailman soothsayer he was ... he wasn't but a few consonants off.
You know you're from a conservative hometown when you get faceboook updates like these from the old obligatory highschool friends:
"... is wondering what America will do now that it has a Terrorist for a president. That guy flat out sucks and if you voted for him you do too.", "... is packing her bags...Canada is looking pretty good right now.", "...is becoming more and more keenly aware that we are about to have an Obamanation...congrats and no thanks to our liberal leftist media", "...is praying for our country today.", "...is hoping GWB can get the ball rolling in Iran before January 20."
Although they are counter-weighted by the friends from college onwards:
"... is thrilled!", "... is an extremely happy camper.", "is glad he was in the USA for this.", "...is happy about the Obama win" "...has renewed faith in her country.", " is playing "Sign, Sealed, Delivered" over and over again at the office. Woohoo!!!", "...will name his first-born child Barack Fucking Hussein Obama Nelson. Or maybe for a girl, Michelle Barack Fucking Hussein Obama Nelson.".
One curiously conciliatory update: "... is glad God's in control of appointing this nation's leaders.".
A number of simple "... voted!" updates from people that don't seem to want to go public with their feelings on the outcome.
And some that seem to be in numb denial and want to change the subject: "...is wondering if any of his friends have read the works of Thomas Pynchon." (from a guy that went on and on about McCain through the whole thing.)
I was debating going with: "... for one welcomes our new Democratic overlords.", but a simple "... is happy with the election outcome." seems best.
