Help... my character can not seem to be able to step off the rope elavator .He seems to
just bump into the ledge ????? Is there some key I need to press to step off the elavator??...heeeeeeeeeeppppllllleee

Sounds like a bug.
Try jumping, crouching, strafing, moving the elevator again, etc. (Like you didn't try those already!)

Just in case anyone else had the same problem .Just uninstalled demo .Then deleted
directory and rebooted and reinstalled .Problem disappeared !!!!!!

I think starting a new quest would have worked too...
And it would have been much simpler...
