Gee, I wonder why this happened?

Eidos Montreal boss and founder Stephane D’Astous left the company last week, he has said in a statement.
D’Astous said his replacement will be David Anfossi, the producer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: The Fall.
According to his statement, D’Astous left the company due to irreconcilable differences between Eidos and Square Enix Europe.
“Since last year’s financial short-coming performance of Square Enix Europe, we (HQ London and GM Eidos Montreal) have had growing and divergent opinions on what needed to be done to correct the situation,” he said.
“The lack of leadership, lack of courage and the lack of communication were so evident, that I wasn’t able to conduct my job correctly. I realized that our differences were irreconcilable, and that the best decision was unfortunately to part ways.”
D’Astous was at the firm six years and his departure follows that of North American CEO Mike Fischer and a round of layoffs in both North America and Europe.

Well, at least they can now use the same lame excuses as to why T3 got down on it's knees in front of the proverbial "equine of short stature" when Thiaf turns out to be unplayable dumbed down for console player garbage with a piss poor PC port.
I saw this coming months ago...

obligatory point-out that TDS is actually pretty good. Anyways, this is good news in a sense, right? The development of this game looks to be a total shambles though.

What a putz. What did he want, his hand held and a cookie? Run your company, you dink! This was the time for you, Mr. D'Astous, to show courage and strength, and to find the ingenuity and creativity to proceed in doing your job and running your division; not tucking your tail between your legs and boo-hooing like a little bitch with a skinned knee.
I have no love for D'Astous, but I would have respect for someone who doesn't buckle and quit because they suddenly feel like a redheaded stepchild. Seriously--grow a pair.

Seconded for DS. It was not nearly as good as the first two, but it had it's positives, and its moments. I don't know that many will be saying the same for this one.

I rather liked TDS, a lot. It's the game that got me into playing the originals.

DS was by far the worst Thief game... but it was still a Thief game.

The horrendous design decisions surfacing now weren't a product of "last year’s financial short-coming performance". These decisions are likely to have been made significantly earlier.
There are no excuses.

I don't know if one can really judge it as the worst Thief game, when there were only three Thief games.
Different and targeted toward a different audience and console gaming, yes.

I don't know... I'd place even T2X above TDS. I used to hope that perhaps modders could fix it, but I replayed a fairly large part of it with the minimalist mod last year and I still think this way.
