I just bought the collectors edition last night, and keep reading about an editor, but i cant find it? Could someone help me out?

The editor's on the "Construction Set" CD, and if memory serves you need to install it before you install the editor; else, things go wonky. You'll probably need to uninstall the game if you've installed it already (back up your saves before, of course).

how would i make a backup of my save file?

use the Explorer option,by right clicking on your start menue in windows. then go to wherever you saved the game too, there will be a file called saves or somthing of the sort, just take that file, copy and paste somewhere, cd, floppy, harddrive. and then when you uninstall it, it wont find those copies, and when you reinstall it, replace the new empty save files with your save files. your now computer literate, yay!!:cheeky:

I know my way around a computer, I just dont like to take risks. Playing around in DOS one day got my system fried, took a reformat and an insurance claim for a new processor, STILL not sure how this happened.) Yeah yeah, i know its trivial and everything, but i was searching around yesterday and couldnt find my save file, so i wondered if it was stored on the cd, which i now know it isnt. This IS the "help" forum, am i correct? :weird: :laff:

*grin* Playing around with Windows can fry your system if you try hard enough, but that's neither here nor there ;)

Sorry, but that WAS necessary.
Ok, now for the help...
Start the explorer, go to where you installed the game (e.g. C:\Bethesda\Morrowind). There is a subdirectory called SAVES. Now just COPY this whole directory to some other place (that is OUTSIDE the directorystructure of the installed Morrowind - or else you would delete it as well.)
Btw: Some Programms delete only the stuff they installed, so if there are plugins or saves that are not original installed by the game, the are untouched. But only SOME do that, so just make always backups just in case.

thanx for the help, but i already did all of this. Problem is that i have no empty floppy's and havent gotten around to buying new ones.
Forsythe on 1/10/2002 at 20:53
Hrm... as MagicMerlin said, you needn't copy it to a floppy, you just have to copy it to someplace outside your Morrowind directory.
