Check Twisty's post further up in the thread.
The UW2 editor won't let you add to or mess around with the inventory, but Al_B's program lets you edit the lev.ark file.. I'm not sure if you can use it to set the properties on wands and magic armor, etc. I haven't played with it much but it's pretty dope Al :thumb:

I've tried in both Windows 98 and XP, it does show in processes bar, but I cannot see&use the program. Putting it in wrong dir I do get the error message, so obviously it
tries to load up, but can't for some reason.

It should be independent - I'm using 16 bit colour at the moment and it works fine.
The only other thing which springs to mind is that it might be starting up in a non-visible location on the screen. You say that it shows in the task bar. If you select it and press Alt+F4 does the program close? If so then it's responding to key presses and it may be worth trying to create a shortcut to the editor and setting it's 'Run' state to Maximised.
On another subject - yes, you can modify wand and object spells / properties with the editor, although you have to enter the spell by number rather than by name. For experimentation I tend to leave a number of bottles in a room, load the save game into the editor and change them all to armour, weapons and wands. Then I modify a different stat for each one to find out which effects are possible. You can create some bizarre objects such as a potion of armegeddon - which is not particularly useful!

My resolution is usually 1024x768, with 32bit colors. Now testing whether ALT-F4 works is kind of tricky since I can't get it to show on taskbar either... Kind of weird problem if you ask me. One thing comes to mind, is it related to IE in anyway?
I have a pop-up stopper installed there, but they usually behave differently than this.

I have a pop-up stopper installed there, but they usually behave differently than this. No - the only distinctive thing about it is that it's written in Borland C++ Builder version 3. It doesn't use any special components and I've not had any problems with the variety of different machines I've tried it on. Maybe if anyone else has problems then they could post so we can track this one down.
