Go to the Foriegn quarter in Vivec. Go to the plaza and note that there is only one single Ordinator. Now, by the fighters guild should be a large flowerpot. Jump on the little ledge comming out of the fighters guild and then onto the flowerpot. Get behind it and now, nothing can get you. Now this part requires some skill in Bows and Crossbows. Stand back and repeatedly shoot the ordinator with arrows. This can take a long time and if you run out of arrows you're pretty much screwed, but eventually he will die, leaving all his armor. Take as much as you can carry (BUT DO NOT WEAR IT!!!) and use the Mages guild to go straight to Caldera. Drop the armor and anything else you might have stolen and go outside. Talk to a guard and pay the fine, now grab that stuff and head straight to Ghorak Manor. Here's the Creeper, a little scamp with 5,000 bucks. Sell everything untill he runs out of money, then rest for 24 hours. Sell the Mace and Currias last, that way, you can buy something for 2,000, then sell the currias. then buy the currias back and sell the mace. Repeat this process of buying and selling crap untill you completely run out of items. By the end, I had over 33,000 bucks!! Now go buy your cyber-wife some fake jewelry.
Easy? If you're going to do that, you might as well use
player->AddItem "gold_100" 30000 at the console
Far less tedious ;)

And of course there is always the Mudcrab Merchant instead of Creeper...
One only needs a certain amount of gold to "jump start" their character in Morrowind; because after awhile gold is never a problem, and you have loot worth millions where it's just too tedious to try to liquidate it. One thing I do to get an initial bundle of cash is raid the "lost" ebony mine (use some Sujamma to help your newbie beat down the atronachs within) that is south of Balmora on the side of the river. You can also sell the information on the location of the mine to some people later on, but I forget their names.

I always liked to finish off the diamond mine with a bow and keep the diamonds to myself. Though I like the n00b stage without any money so I don't see why you want to cut it short.

I remember when I stole stuff worth over over 350000 gold in three IRL hours.

Agreed! Besides the additional challenge it affords, I like the sense of purpose it provides. Every time I need to replenish my depleted stores of arrows or potions, I have to get creative about the financing of my next adventure. Finally a reason for those lame Fed-Ex missions.

One of my characters was a fisher in Khuul, I had lots of magic so I cast waterwalk and went over top of a little fishy, then I cast greater fireball on the water to kill the fishy underneath (this is how you fish in morrowind). I maked potions from the remains combined with some kwama cuttle. I remember one time I took the silt strider to Ald ruhn, bought a bigger fire ball spell but didn't have enough money to get back! I had to steal some kwama eggs to afford the silt strider fair.

I worked out that armour's hammers should be about 8 times as expensive and not available in the fighters guild for armour to be balanced, this would add an actaul expense to morrowind, though it could be a bit harsh for newbies, if I didn't stop playing MW on computer (xbox is faster than my computer) I would make a mod for myself with these changes, along with some other stuff. There were alot of great concepts like that included in MW but they weren't balanced by adding things like regenerating free armour hammers; unfortunatly most modders don't go out to balance the orginal ideas, but they add what they think should be added (usually a bad idea or not balanced).
