Yes the term itself would of course seem to be coincidence but the application of it is not. Its the second mission in both the games and might I add the first real mission in either of them.
I realize this is Deus Ex and we're supposed to see conspiracies and parallels in everything, but sometimes (

One I can't beleive I missed until now.
First Boss:Named Barrett and has a machinegun arm, reference to Barrett from FFVII

I also thought this is just a name of a building section where they handle packages and goods, rather than "OMG, Thief reference!"

And off to Picus we go.
Room 404 - Error: Eliza not found.
Reading the news ticker in the funicular mentions "Dick Milhouse". Nixon reference?
Oh, and now I have to look for Eliza in room 802-11.
Aside from the questionable "shipping and receiving", I haven't noticed ANY Thief references.

We'll soon find out. I've asked Stephane. I'm in email contact with him since I asked permission to use some images from the game on shirts.
He said yes btw, and wants to see the result.

I'm surprised that no one even said so in the thread over at the Eidos board, but isn't Hengsha (in its entirety) a nod to FF7's Midgar?

It does feel like one at times, doesn't it? Especially the idea that you have to take a train to get 'upstairs.' And that the whole place seems to be owned by a single big company.

I thought the same thing, you two.

Well, this is obscure. I only know that it's a reference because it seemed kinda curious, so I used teh Google on it. It's a reference to the book, "Archie and Amelie: Love and Madness in the Gilded Age".
