In the in-game debug menu, turn on wireframe view, it seems to only show the parts of the level that are being rendered. If I'm correct, with this turned on in that gigantic level, one could easily see if any zones were merged.

Can we verify that those zones are taken into account by the engine, and some of them are not merged by the engine to keep the total at 64, as the case seems to have been at some point in time?
Hmm... now that you mention it, it looks like some of the zones have the same colors. I thought the display was just repeating colors for different zones, but could be it actually merged them.
Not quite sure how to test that out. Maybe by opening the View>Show Zone Properties dialog to create a Zone Properties actor in each zone and somehow verifying that they are all unique??? Is there any way to get a total zone count, maybe in one of the many debugging log files?
Also, none of the OM maps I opened up seem to be pushing past 64 zones.
If Null says he thinks they upped the zone limit, then I tend to believe him, but it would be nice to have some proof...
EDIT: oops, sorry Kircaldy - simultaneous post. I'll give your suggestion a try later. What is the console command for wireframe view in-game?

While we're on the subject, I tried to create a few zone portals in my test mission and it didn't do anything to help the severe framerate problem I'm having. Can someone kindly point me to a link that talks about zone portals; I'm not having any luck finding them.
Thanks!

Seemed to help a bit. Thanks!
It still plays at less than half the fps I get in the original T3, but it's a vast improvement. Probably other optimizations I haven't even begun to touch on yet. I'll keep trudging along though.

Looks like I can verify more than 64 zones.
On my huge test level, after Building All I went to Build > Build Options... and selected the Stats tab. It reports some data on the level geometry and tells me I have 310 Brushes and 134 zones.

That is excellent news! Thanks for verifying that! :thumb:
