The business is not primarily about making money.
I am pretty sure that's exactly what business is about.

I thought SS3 was being developed now. By the team that made The Godfather.

Well, if EA don't care, it is just their loss of a possible record-selling game. ;)
Because, as we all know, 1 and 2 did so well that Looking Glass Studios went on to... die.
Hardly a sure-fire winner.

If it is being developed by EA, then we can say goodbye to ever getting a real System Shock 3.

Why do you say that? Keep an open mind.

Wishful thinking, is my wager. My hopes jumped a bit (despite the heavy-handedness) when EA sent a cease and desist order to the guys who were doing a Doom 3 total conversion, but now it just seems it was to make sure they could ship an "EA Classics" version for some extra chump change.

Nice that you're keeping an open mind.

If anyone but Irrational create a SS sequel, it is very unlikely it will even be close to be as good, but hey, keeping an open mind is always a possibility.

He has a point in some ways though. To give a non FPS or System Shock example for that matter. When GTA3 was released by Rockstar that became easily the best in the series (just look at all the spinoffs since). Or for another example the upcoming Command and Conquer 3 game looks fantastic so far and is a game I`ll DEFINATELY be getting whether its from EA or not I dont really care.
So yeah. On this one IF SS3 is in development (which I honestly have a hard time believing at present) then I will be saving my opinion till the day its released.
